So, the year came to an end. How did the various celebs did this year, here's my write up to that. I am going to skip few of them, who I don't feel worth to give time to. And it would be in alphabetical order...

Aamir Khan

Films : Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly
In Dhobi Ghat, inspite of a good performance, he easily got overshadowed (for a change) by the rest cast. While Delhi Belly, he was limited to a item number 'I hate you(like I love you)'.. the much talked about, which became quite a hit especially for the lines Aamir himself crooned into the song 'shake that biscuit baby, shake it for me' and his dance moves, with the 80's retro look. So, despite not doing any lead role film this year, he yet remained very much in the limelight.

Abhay Deol

Films : Zindagi na milegi Dobara
He was natural, and easily into his character of this film, how well he acts the scene when he describes, he never actually proposed kalki in the film. Yet, I am missing 'oye luck' n 'dev d' kind of film from him now.

Abhishek Bachchan

Films : Game, Dum maaro Dum and Bbhuddah hoga tera baap
I liked him in Game, also love that film which hardly anyone liked. While in dum maaro dum, I felt he was very wayward or inconsistent. Not seen the 3rd film, must be a small apperance I guess. Overall, it was just a okay year for him.

Aditi Rao Hydari

Films : Yeh saali zindagi and Rockstar
Her only film before was Delhi6, and that was non glam role. The equation changed with yeh saali zindagi, with the media news of so many kisses done in the film with Arunoday Singh. How beautiful she looked in the film, and this statement comes when I know Chitrangada Singh was also part of the film. That says a lot! Her acting was spot on, and the same was visible in Rockstar where she played the journalist very well. A solo female lead, is the next thing I am looking forward from her. Overall, very good year for her.

Ajay Devgan

Films : Dil toh baccha hai Jee, Singham and Rascals
Had he not done Rascals, it would had been another perfect year for Ajay devgan in my eye just like last year. His performance as a nerdy divorced 30 plus person working in a office was fun, and likeable. And the heart breaking final scene too, that old song fitted him the most. While, he totally rocked Singham, which I wasn't expecting, luckily I didn't make mistake of missing the film. He might even win few awards, or atleast trouble the jury a lot with the powerful performance, 'aata maajhi satakeli re'. Rascals was a huge dissappointment, mainly because he accepted this role. As a performer, he was very funny but then that doesn't count if the content is vulgar for me. As a whole, he had a good year!

Akshay Kumar

Films : Patiala House, Thank You, Speedy Sighs, Jumbo2 and Desi Boyz
I don't understand why he does so many films. That's one of major reasons, he is failing now because he is accepting bad films as a result. His fall had started since last year only, and that's how it still is. Patiala House was the best of all films in terms of his performance, but it failed at boxoffice. He was very good in thank you, one may say it was a regular akshay we saw, yet I liked him a lot. Speedy Sighs and Jumbo2 I didn't see. While, he was good in desi boyz, not perfect though. The main problem I find with akshay films now is, he is more often good in all of them, but those film's arent. On the whole, above average year for him.

Amitabh Bachchan

Films : Bbuddah hoga tera baap, Aarakshan and Ra.One
Not seen the films film, though he was looking good in the promos, and the meera song he sang was cool. In Aarakshan, he was simply fantastic, the only thing that was worth in that film along with the 'acha lagta hai' song. While, ra.one was limited to his sutradhaar kind of role. Overall, he had a nice year.

Anushka Sharma

Films : Patiala House and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl
She was nice in patiala house, not exceptional. While, in ladies vs ricky bahl, despite giving a good performance, the fact was everyone else had more impact in the film. Overall, a average year for her.

Asin Thottumkal

Films : Ready
I loved her in the film, her critics may say she was over the top but to me, she acted very well, and had the same kind of attitude one saw in Ghajini. And, the fitting's of her dresses were amazing, as Salman says in the film! Good year for her, the film was very good success, much needed after debacle of London Dreams.

Bipasha Basu

Films : Dum maaro Dum
Not much to talk about her, a forgettable kind of performance in the film. She really needs a good film now.

Chitrangada Singh

Films : Yeh saali Zindagi and Desi Boyz
She was as always, superb in yeh saali zindagi. There is a kind of sensuality in her, which very few actresses possess. I think Sudhir Mishra describes her the best 'She plays real people with lot of grace, she has that depth in her performances'. While Desi Boyz, ruined the year for her, not a role she should had done. Not because its commercial, but because she hardly had good amount of screen time in the film. Plus, the costumes given to her were rubbish, and she didn't look comfortable in those dance steps either. All in all, her attempt at first commercial film didn't go well for her. Still, I would take yeh saali zindagi and expect her to rock next year.

Deepika Padukone

Films : Dum Maaro Dum, Aarakshan and Desi Boyz
Both films didn't work at boxoffice. I still wonder why she did Desi boyz despite knowing she said in a interview that she likes to do a masala commercial film every now and then, but this film had almost nothing for her. Aneways, she was good in aarakshan, especially how beautiful she looks in a saree during 'acha lagta hai' song. And not to forget, the moves she did in dum maaro dum song, she looked really hot in that song. Overall, a average year it was for her.

Dia Mirza

Films : Love Breakups Zindagi
Ever since rehna hai terre dil mein, she is struggling to hold on and do good films. This film works for me, and so does her role. Very good acting, plus she still looks as beautiful and sweet as she looked then. The film may not have worked at boxoffice, but her performance was loved by me.

Emraan Hashmi

Films : Dil toh baccha hai jee, Murder2 and The Dirty Picture
Boxoffice wise, he had a good year. Dil toh baccha hai jee didn't work, but Murder2 was a hit (or semi-hit, I dont remember) and The Dirty Picture a super hit. But performances wise, he dissappointed me this year. I didn't like dil toh baccha hai jee film, but his performance was the best in that film only out of the 3 films. In Murder2, his hairstyle was a big turn-off, plus the role had too much of his past character's reminders to make me like him. Though, he was really good in the 'Aye khuda' song, the expressions worked there. While Dirty Picture didn't work because of too many punchlines given to him. Plus, the change of heart in the film was not acceptable to me. Hope, he does better next year.

Farhan Akhtar

Films : Zindagi na milegi Dobara
It surprised me when I read a article this year which says Farhan always wanted to be a actor, not director. To outshine actors like hrithik and abhay deol, just confirms that Farhan is very much a talented actor. Excellent acting by him it was, along with the renditions of all the 3 poems by him in the film. Also, its his 2nd success as an actor, after Luck by chance and Karthik calling karthik failing. He will keep surprising in future with his acting abilities I believe.

Genelia D'Souza

Films : Force
She does very less of hindi films, probably because our films offer less importance to actresses more often. In force, she very much came close to her act of Jaane tu ya jaane naa. Yea, she was that good this time. Looked cute, that lovely introductory scene through 'main chali' song and played a talkative lover of John with ease.

Hrithik Roshan

Films : Zindagi na milegi Dobara and Don 2
He was superb in zindagi na milegi dobara. After debacle of kites, that was a much needed film for him, to get praise critically and film doing well at boxoffice too. Also, he continued his try at playback singing once more, that makes it thrice in a row.. though this time Farhan and Abhay also were part of the song 'Senorita'. While, a nice special appearance in don 2 by him. I missed a solo film by him this year, aneways it was a pretty good year for him.

Imran Khan

Films : Delhi Belly and Mere Brother ki Dulhan
The promos of Delhi Belly made everyone feel, that he has a total makeover with this film. But, it was limited to his looks only, the performance in the film was still just fine. Vir and Kunal were much better than him in the film. While, in Mere Brother ki Dulhan, he was his usual.. good at places and over the top at rest. So, not much a good year in terms of good acting from Imran Khan. Only worth remembering thing for me was, his expressions in the 'Bhaag dk bose' video(promotional one).

Irffan Khan

Films : Yeh saali zindagi, 7 Khoon Maaf and Thank You
His act in yeh saali zindagi was too hillarious, now a guy makes you laugh even when few secs before you see him heart-broken, incredible actor. I didn't like his role in 7 Khoon Maaf, though he was again perfect in his portrayal. While, in thank you, he was good but was inconsistent and not the way you see him always, in short, he wasn't flawless. Overall, a nice year for him.

Jacqueline Fernandez

Films : Murder 2
So much was talked about her glam role, change of image from the simple cute girl. Yet, she had just 15 mins role in the film. Though, she did look very glamarous.. not much could be said about her acting, when she wasn't given any chance for that. Good year for her nevertheless, as the film did good business, and it was a makeover she would have liked.

Jimmy Shergill

Films : Tanu weds Manu, Game and Saheb Biwi aur Gangster
The first two films were complete waste in terms of the talent he possesses. Not the kind of roles he should be choosing. In saheb biwi aur gangster, he was just brilliant, great portrayal of Saheb. Overall, average year it turned for him.

John Abraham

Films : 7 Khoon Maaf, Force and Desi Boyz
He was excellent as a drug addict in 7 khoon maaf, while in force he was given too bad dialogues to make a impression, yet in the romantic scenes with Genelia, he looked good. And, his performance in Desi Boyz was pretty average. Overall, a okay year for him.

Kalki Koechin

Films : Shaitan, Zindagi na milegi Dobara, That Girl in Yellow Boots and My Friend Pinto
This was some year for her, especially after a low 2010. She was not good in shaitan for me, the dialogue delivery was bad. While in My Friend Pinto, she had no scope in her role. Zindagi na milegi dobara works for her, even with small role she easily gets noticed for playing a possessive gf, a touch mad at times. While it was 'That Girl in Yellow boots' by anurag kashyap yet again, which gave to me her best performance till date, surpassing Dev.D. How well, she inacted the role of a girl in search of father at a place called Mumbai, struggling every day. The kind of loneliness and emotions she goes through, were beautifully portrayed by Kalki. On the whole, a good year it was for her.

Kangana Ranaut

Films : Tanu weds Manu, Game, Ek hi Raasta, Ready, Double Dhamaal, Rascals and Miley naa miley Hum
6 lead roles and 1 special apperance, yet for me it was a poor year for her. Her performance in tanu weds manu wasn't appealing at all in totality. In game, she was decent as a cop. While, she was terribly over the top in both double dhamaal and rascals. Feel strange, that she does a film like rascals, all those cheap activities in the film when there was a time she used to do only quality films, those fashion days. So much has changed now for her. I didn't see the rest two films.

Kareena Kapoor

Films : Bodyguard and Ra.One
She continues doing films that has nothing much to offer for her, yet get the big hits tag due to the Khan's. No wonder, she comes as a over-rated actress to me. This yr, the story is similar yet again. Her performance was ordinary in Bodyguard, while in Ra.One she was good in parts but the red saree in Chammak Challo looked very good on her. High time, she moves on to women oriented roles which Priyanka and Vidya do much more than her.

Katrina Kaif

Films : Zindagi na milegi dobara and Mere Brother ki Dulhan
She may not be able to speak hindi properly, but acting is never all about able to speak a language. The mannerisms, expressions, beauty also counts. That's what she is doing a lot in her past many films, not concentrating on her weakness, instead working on what she is best at. A very good performance in zindagi na milegi dobara, getting noticed in a film which is dominated by 3 male actors. While, she completely owned Mere brother ki Dulhan, again inspite of 2 male actors in the film. No doubt, she is among the top listed actresses today. She can look beautiful and cute at the same time! It was a very good year for her, with both films working at boxoffice, and her performances getting noted.

Mahie Gill

Films : Utt Pataang, Bbuddah hoga tera Baap, Not a love Story and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster
I didn't see first two films, so no idea about her performances, in the 2nd one she must be in special apperance only I guess. While she was good in 'not a love story', only the poor camerawork made her performance look weaker. And she totally nailed it in Saheb biwi aur gangster, playing a mental, romantic girl so efficiently. Plus, she always looks the best in those kind of costumes. Overall, a nice year for her.

Naseeruddin Shah

Films : 7 Khoon Maaf, Zindagi na milegi Dobara, That girl in yellow Boots, Chargesheet and The Dirty Picture
Chargesheet the only one I didn't see. He was great as a bengali doctor in 7 khoon maaf, a grey shade well enacted. While zindagi na milegi dobara was small guest apperance. And that bmc dialogue was classic in that girl in yellow boots. While, we got to see him dance once more, interestingly again with Vidya balan in 'The dirty picture'. He was efficient and the best as one would expect among the 3 leads in the film.  Overall, it was a good year for him.

Neil Nitin Mukesh

Films : 7 Khoon Maaf
The speculation was that 'Tera kya hoga johnny' would release, but it didn't and hence he had only 1 release this year which too was more of a 10-15 mins role. Yet, his was the most hard-hitting role among all the husbands in the film. Something to take from a otherwise quiet year.

Pratiek Babbar

Films : Dhobi Ghat, Dum Maaro Dum, Aarakshan and My Friend Pinto
He had lots of films released this year. Out of which, he was good in two, and forgettable in rest two. Dhobi Ghat gave him very good limelight, impressive acting, he quite much overshadowed Aamir in the film. Dum Maaro Dum and Aarakshan, were  very average performances, more so the roles had nothing to offer him, both were extended cameos which he shouldn't had chosen. My Friend Pinto brought him back to track, he played the confused unlucky yet lucky for others character with great ease. Overall, a mixedbag year for him.

Priyanka Chopra

Films : 7 Khoon Maaf and Don2
Though 7 Khoon maaf was a big failure at the boxoffice, for me it was a wonderful film, and Priyanka was outstanding in the film. Yes the make up wasn't proper during the Anu Kapoor story. While, Darling was very much famous, more credits to Usha Uthup and Vishal Bharadwaj for it.. she looked beautiful in that dance. In Don2, she failed to make any impression on me.

Rajeev Khandelwal

Films : Shaitan and Soundtrack
It was almost 3 yrs after we finally saw his next film. In shaitan, his chemistry with the girl playing his wife in the film was so good that without sharing a single dialogue, they both made their sequences lovable and romantic. As a police officer, he was very good in the role. Soundtrack, was more of a test at his acting abilities, while most of the film he carried through superbly, still there were few shades where you could see he wasn't at ease playing a dj especially in the 1st half. Yet, he along with Soha were the only good things about that average film. On the whole, Rajeev Khandelwal had a nice year, still on the lines of getting big offers from big production houses. Another interesting thing is, his roles in all 3 films so far he has done are very different from each other.

Ranbir Kapoor

Films : Chillar Party and Rockstar
He had a item song in Chillar party, 'tai tai fish' which I think was pretty likeable mainly for Amit Trivedi's music. But, it was 11.11.11, when he made a mark through the Imtiaz ali film 'Rockstar'. A performance, that varied from emotions, innocence, maturity, romance, angst and emptiness. He deserves to win as many best actor awards for this film in 2012.

R. Madhavan

Films : Tanu weds Manu
A notable role he did after 3 idiots, the film had too much in common with Jab we met, plus lots of other things didn't work for me. Yet, it was madhavan's performance that was the saving grace. One of under-utilised actors today in hindi films.

Rani Mukherjee

Films : No one killed Jessica
She had only one release in the year, which came in January. It was important film for her, and how well she made a comeback. Her performance got appreciated by masses as well as critics. The role was perfectly in synch with the kind of girl she herself is i.e Bindaas and muhphat. Though at places, the character did give me a feel of over the top reactions. Anyhow, even with just one film this year, she made her critics silent. 'Aali re, saali re', was perfectly written for her.

Ranveer Singh

Films : Ladies vs Ricky Bahl
His 2nd film, with the same team, a different role with few similarities of Bittu of Band Baaja Baaraat. He very well adapted into a new character, and showed the same signs of confidence he did during debut film. Surely, someone to watch out for in 2012.

Saif Ali Khan

Films : Aarakshan
It was a nice performance, feel jha missed out taking more out of his role. His dialect was criticised by lots of people I saw on twitter, but I very much liked him in the film. Otherwise, it was a quiet year for him.

Salman Khan

Films : Ready and Bodyguard
The monotonous feel came with Bodyguard, the concept with salman films appeared, 3 action sequences with introduction action, interval action and climax action. Rest action scenes are a bonus, free, free, free. Instead, what made me like Salman in Bodyguard was the light moments, the romantic moments he shares with Kareena, specially the one where he says 'tum mera dil toh nahi todogi na', in the park. Also, he had a good comic timing in Ready.

Shahid Kapoor

Films : Mausam
Even though his performance was nice, I won't like to remember this film of his when in future I recap his best works in career. Plus, he didn't look convincing playing the air pilot officer. But, he was lovable as the village guy, which interestingly was the only good part of the film too. A bad year it was for him, wish he gets back to the good days.

Shahrukh Khan

Films : Ra.One and Don 2
He promised a lot from Ra.One through all the hype, promotions and interviews. Only if, he had chosen a better director, the film would had been loved by one and all. His performance also wasn't fully upto the mark. But, he changed it with Don 2, with Farhan as director.. one expected it to be much better and it indeed was. Shahrukh known for bringing style into his acting, made Don 2 even more stylish for me. It goes down the list of his top performances in his career.

Sonam Kapoor

Films : Thank You and Mausam
The disaster of her acting continued in both the films. A proof of how terrible a actor she is. Yet, one likeable common factor in both films was, her looks, she is very beautiful even though plastic in expressions and poor in dialogue delivery. No expectations from this actress in next year for me.

Vidya Balan

Films : No one killed Jessica and The Dirty Picture
While her performance was under-rated in no one killed jessica due to the accolades Rani won over. Her performance in the dirty picture despite being good, didn't interest me due to the content that was more vulgar than bold. Though, a very good year for her, both films getting immense praise, one critics wise, and other boxoffice.

Vinay Pathak

Films : Utt Pataang, Kaccha Limboo, Chalo Dilli, Bheja Fry2, Tere mere Phere, Jo dooba so Paar, Pappu can't dance Saala.
I didn't see the 1st wo films. While Chalo Dilli and Pappu can't dance saala were the best of the rest lot. Bheja Fry was a huge dissappointment, more on the writing front than his acting. While tere mere phere was highly irritating film, his acting was decent, yet his role wasn't interesting. Jo dooba was more of a okish cameo. Chalo Dilli was good for it was very much the character we see him, funny and yet emotional 'ismein kaunsi badi baat ho gayi'. While pappu added another feature to the characteristics, that of a angry chirchira person. Yet, one thing many people complain along with me, that he is doing similar type of roles a lot often now. Time for another dasvidaniya maybe!
