16 Most Awaited Hindi Movies of 2015

New year has only one meaning in my life, it brings hopes of some great movies which may become memorable forever. Hoping the hindi films are much better than they were last year…

Here’s my list of top16 movies that I can’t wait to watch in theatres..

P.S - The release dates are subject to change.

Badlapur (Febuary 20)
directed by Sriram Raghavan, starring Varun Dhawan, Yami Gautam, Divya Dutta, Huma Qureshi, Vinay Pathak

Plot :
A crime drama about a happy man’s life that changes into an unstable emotional state. He now seeks revenge for his wife and son who get killed in a bank robbery.
What To Look For :
Going by its trailer, one expects Sriram to be back in form this time around after the debacle of ‘Agent Vinod’. Plus, we finally get to see Varun in a different grey role which will test his acting skills a lot more. I didn’t quite liked his dialogue delivery in trailer, but sometimes such feel comes when you are not used to see the actor in a never seen before role (Remember Ritesh in Ek Villain, had similar views after watching trailer and now I am in awe of his performance). If he’s good, then his scenes with Nawazuddin would make for excellent watch. And it seems a long time since I last saw Vinay Pathak in a movie. Expecting Sriram to deliver a exciting revenge drama, and needless to say I would want atleast one half of movie with that bearded look (don’t disappoint like Haider), and some insane stuff including violence like the shot where he repeatedly uses hammer to kill someone. Also, the first music album this year which maybe top notch, with composers Sachin-Jigar (though I didn’t like their work in Happy Ending), Jee Karda is already a song I can’t stop playing everyday, Jeena Jeena was a disappointment though.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshi (April 3)
directed by Dibakar Banerjee, starring Sushant Singh Rajput

Plot :
War torn Calcutta of 1940’s in the middle of 2nd world war, the movie showcases Byomkesh at his first adventure as detective where he has to fight against most villainous criminal out to destroy the world.
What To Look For :
Unfortunately, this didn’t release last year, so once again enters my list. With Dibakar at helm of direction and Yash Raj to give him better production values, expect the expected from him. Looking at the trailer, one can easily bet on it not to disappoint. Its been a while since last solo movie for Sushant (Shudh Desi Romance), he has a chance to outshine his fellow competitor Ranbir whose Jagga Jasoos comes this year too. Based on popular serial written by Sharadindu Bandopadhyay, this is easily a film that I have an eye on to be my most fav hindi detective movie. Also, look out for the music by Sneha, the piece used in the trailer is highly intriguing.

Piku (April 30)
directed by Shoojit Sircar, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan

Plot :
A comedy drama on father-daughter relationship.
What To Look For :
When you have cast of Amitabh, Deepika and Irrfan working together, then you don’t really need any other reasons to watch this movie. And then you are told its directed by Shoojit whose 2 movies till now Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe have been very well-made movies. Could be a hat-trick of good movies for him, and we would definitely love that.

Bombay Velvet (May 15)
directed by Anurag Kashyap, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Raveena Tandon

Plot :
Set against backdrop of ambition, love, greed, and jazz, it is the story of one ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a ‘Big Shot’.
What To Look For :
Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of a boxer, describes this movie as the ‘Titanic’ of his career. Karan Johar in a never seen before villainous role, jazz music composed by Amit Trivedi, Raveena Tandon in a cameo that has a important part in movie and Thelma Schoonmaker as editor (she has edited many Scorsese movies in past). Anurag has created Mumbai of 60’s while shooting in Sri Lanka. The movie is termed as Kashyap’s biggest budget movie till date, and after delivering with Ugly recently, and looking at his track-record of exceptional dark realistic movies, one has to be excited to see how well he goes. I am definitely banking on Bombay Velvet to be his best film of career, and maybe best of 2015.

Dil Dhadakne Do (June 5)
directed by Zoya Akhtar, starring Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah

Plot :
A dysfunctional punjabi family on a cruise trip trying to bond with each other.
What To Look For :
Can’t recollect when was the last time I saw a hindi movie on this topic, must have been for sure. How much I love the film will be directly proportional to how Zoya completes all character’s fights among each other, I would prefer her to leave some un-solved. Her all 3 directed films (short one in Bombay Talkies), have been praiseworthy stuff, and she again has a big cast on her side. Specially keen to see the bro-sis bonding between Ranveer and Priyanka (if I am correct). Also, watch out for Shankar Ehsan Loy who again pairs with Zoya as composers, their work was good last time around in Zindagi na Milegi Dobara.

Hamari Adhoori Kahaani (June 12)
directed by Mohit Suri, starring Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Rajkumar Rao

Plot :
Inspired by a real life love triangle between parents of Mahesh Bhatt and his stepmother.
What To Look For :
Mohit Suri has yet to impress me fully ever since Awarapan, he has shown signs of it though in his last few films. Keen to see how he handles the love-triangle, his movies often have the emotional feeling in it. Would prefer Rajkumar Rao to have equal screen presence as other two stars. Also, Vidya and Emraan both haven’t done films in past 2 years that can be talked highly of. Won’t be wrong to say that the music of this movie would be more anticipated by many including me, as Mithoon-Ankit would again be at helm of composing, they have given 2 back to back outstanding albums with Suri already, ‘Aashiqui2' and 'Ek Villain'.

Brothers (July 31)
directed by Karan Malhotra, starring Siddharth Malhotra, Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez

Plot :
The youngest son of an alcoholic former boxer returns home, where he’s trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament - a path that puts him on a collision corner with his older brother.
What To Look For :
Its official remake of Hollywood movie ‘Warrior’, which I haven’t seen yet, will probably watch by the time trailer of Brothers arrive. The plot might change as per indian requirements, but if they keep the main story intact then this calls for a very interesting movie. Give a movie where Akshay isn’t doing comedy, and it will immediately catch my eye. Siddharth-Akshay brother drama would be great to see too, Siddharth hasn’t disappointed me in a single movie yet. At present only Jacqueline looks the weak link, her romantic plot might intervene with main story. Plus, I didn’t like Karan Malhotra’s version of Agneepath at all, and now his 2nd movie is also another remake. If he doesn’t make the screenplay highly melodramatic (which it can become), then I think this movie will work.

Fan (August 14)
directed by Maneesh Sharma, starring Shahrukh Khan

Plot :
A die-hard fan wants to meet his idol superstar whom he worships.
What To Look For :
Similar plot was last time shown in one of the short movies of Bombay Talkies (Anurag Kashyap one). It would had been better if the superstar role wasn’t played by Shahrukh unless Maneesh makes sure he doesn’t go over the top which he can in that character. I am more keen to see how he does in the main role i.e the one who plays the Fan.  Hollywood’s make up artist Greg Cannom is giving a new look to Shahrukh. Among his 3 films, only Ladies vs Ricky Bahl was a let-down by Maneesh. His films mostly are real with a subtle humor touch to it. Finally, a Shahrukh movie that might appeal to me.

Phantom (August 28)
directed by Kabir Khan, starring Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif

Plot :
Two secret Indian agents try to combat global terrorism, a counter-terrorism drama film set post the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.
What To Look For :
The movie is based on unreleased book of Hussain Zaidi. Interestingly, Kabir’s 4th movie in a row that is based on terrorism. As a director he has shown his flair in his all past movies, though he faltered giving romantic plot more importance in Ek Tha Tiger. If he keeps that aside here, then this could be the film that brings Saif’s career back to track whose last noteworthy performance was in Go Goa Gone. Katrina had some great stunts last time in Kabir’s film, so expecting some more again.

Shandaar (September 4)
directed by Vikas Bahl, starring Shahid Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj Kapoor

Plot :
Two insomniacs fall in love in the middle of a larger than life wedding during long, sleepless nights.
What To Look For :
The film is told to be India’s first destination wedding movie, with a fresh young pair of Shahid-Alia. After excellent work in Haider, this could be a very good follow up for Shahid, to work with Queen fame director Vikas Bahl. The plot is pretty straightforward just like Queen was, again upto how well can Vikas make the screenplay appeal. For 1st time we will see Shahid-Pankaj together in a film, and the music will be once again by Amit Trivedi. So, plenty to look forward to.

Jagga Jasoos (September-October)
directed by Anurag Basu, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Govinda

Plot :
A teenager detective with his assistant girlfriend, searches for his missing father.
What To Look For :
A musical movie where characters converse through songs and minimal dialogues, when did that happen last time in our movies, I don’t remember if it even happened. But then this concept I didn’t like much in Hollywood’s Les Miserables. Still, gonna give it a go because its Ranbir-Anurag-Pritam teaming up again after Barfi. Pritam this time is giving us around 20 songs to listen. If the movie doesn’t work, surely the songs would be worth it.

Wazir (March-July)
directed by Bejoy Nambiar, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Aditi Rao Hydari

Plot :
Two players are engaged in a tense game of chess, one is disabled and other is ATS Officer. One tries to decipher the story of the other’s death through the moves in the game. By the end of the game, the player is changed forever.
What To Look For :
From the looks of the teaser, this one looks to be a intense drama thriller. Plus, like his last two movies, Shaitan and David, you can expect stylish film-making from Bejoy and very good music too as the background score in teaser is very captivating. Amitabh playing disabled chess master, while Farhan an ATS Officer, even if the film doesn’t live upto the expectations, these two actors won’t disappoint.

Raees (September-December)
directed by Rahul Dholakia, starring Shahrukh Khan, Mahira Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Plot :
A crime drama based on illegal liquor trade in Gujarat, and the modus operandi of real life gangsters, bureaucrats, politicians and police officers spanning the last two decades.
What To Look For :
The film is loosely based on real life incidents, with Shahrukh playing a bootlegger probably essaying the role of Abdul Latif (not confirmed), who was the underworld king of Gujarat in late 80’s. Meanwhile Nawazuddin plays cop who is after him. Mahira whose performance in pakistan movie ‘Bol’ was highly satisfying, will be seen opposite Shahrukh in her debut indian movie. Shahrukh has played these kinda of roles previously, Don series to be precise, with Farhan as producer and trustable director in Dholakia, one may expect a lot from this movie. And Ram Sampath-Javed Akhtar duo could give a good music album to listen too.

Fitoor (no confirmed date)
directed by Abhishek Kapoor, starring Aditya Roy Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Rekha

Plot :
A story of love lost and realized over the course of two generations.
What To Look For :
Its an indian adaptation of Charles Dickens classic ‘Great Expectations’, where Aditya plays an artist, and katrina his muse, and Rekha plays character of Begum. Some wonderful locations of Kashmir would be seen with 1st schedule of shooting happening there. Starcast is slightly weak to my liking, but trust on Abhishek is there whose last two films Kai Po Che and Rock On have been really good.

Nyodda (no confirmed date)
directed by Meghna Gulzar, starring Irrfan Khan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Neeraj Kabi, Tabu

Plot :
Based on real life events of Aarushi Talwar murder case.
What To Look For :
That case was as much a big news, as the Jessica one was. A article says that the movie has backing of Talwar’s and the movie will be from the parents point of view pleading for their innocence. Personally, I still believe there was no full proof to say Aarushi was killed by her parents (I may be wrong). This film will most likely with its excellent cast help us witness the emotional breakdown a parent would go through when being accused of killing their own daughter. Only question is, if Meghna Gulzar good enough to make the good material work on screen or not, as not seen her past films. Neeraj Kabi and Konkana play parents of Aarushi while Tabu her aunt in a supporting role perhaps. Irrfan will be in main officer investigating role. And look out for Vishal Bharadwaj’s music with Gulzar penning the lyrics.

Tamasha (December 25)
directed by Imtiaz Ali, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone

Plot :
A nomad who entertains people while on his travel and likes to spread happiness, meets a girl in streets of Corsica who is a fan of French comics Asterix and has come for one of its trials. Both share their love for same comics and adventure, and head out exploring life.
What To Look For :
This could be perfect casting in a Imtiaz Ali movie ever, Ranbir-Deepika in lead, Rahman’s music, Irshad Kamil’s lyrics (Rockstar magic to repeat?). Imtiaz movies always have got those vulnerable moments that amazes you like hell, he knows how to use them, and then he entertains you too. What happens after both Ranbir and Deepika fall in love, is the Imtiaz territory which I wanna see as to how different it is this time. His highway for me wasn’t as appealing as his other films have been, but this time feel he is back with another great unusual romantic storytelling.

Apart from the listed 16 movies, I also got my eye on these films which may turn out to be unexpectedly good :

Baby (Akshay-Neeraj pairing after Special 26)
Shamitabh (Balki-Amitabh)
Tigers (Emraan in hatke movie like Shanghai)
Bajirao Mastaani (SLB with Deepika,Ranveer,Priyanka, expect better movie than Ram Leela with great music)
Tanu Weds Manu Returns (Kangana in double role, plot more interesting than 1st part)

Saat Hindustaani (Rahman’s music)
Titli (Looked good from trailer plus Sneha Khanwalkar’s music)
MS Dhoni (Biopic with Sushant in lead and Neeraj direction, want to know what parts of his life including personal is shown)
Main Aur Charles (For Randeep Hooda who portrays Charles Sobhraj story)
Guddu Rangeela (Subhash Kapoor last ‘Jolly LLB’ was a fun watch and Arshad Warsi is again in main lead)

Welcome Back (One of rare slapstick comedy that I loved and so keen for new part, John in start cast is only reason I didnt include in 16 list)
Liar’s Dice (It was India’s official Oscar entry, but I want to see for Nawazuddin Siddiqui)
Mr Chaalu (For Reema Kagti, though doubt it will be anywhere as good as her last psychological thriller Talaash)
Margarita with a Straw (Kalki is looking too good in the promos)
Farzi (Raj and DK return with a crime thriller drama having a dose of humor, their last outing ‘Happy Ending’ was not upto their standard)

I hope apart from all the films listed in this post, there will be some unknown surprises.. because for certain some of the films in this list would disappoint, always happens. Fingers crossed…

30 Most Awaited Movies of 2014

New year, new films… new expectations. Here's listing the films that I am most looking forward to.

P.S - The release dates are subject to change, especially Hollywood movies whose Indian release often changes.

Dedh Ishqiya (January 10)
directed by Abhishek Chaubey, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi

Plot :
Two romantic thieves continue their romantic adventures, as they go through 7 stages of love.
What To Look For :
Great twitter feedback on movie already makes this 1st main awaited movie of year. Though, I didn't quite love the 1st part, but Khalu-Babban pair was awesome.. Huma Qureshi could be surprise performer. The supporting cast is strong too, and expect lots of mad sequences.

American Hustle (January 17)
directed by David O. Russell, starring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jenniffer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner

Plot :
A con man along with his seductive British Partner, is forced to work for a wild FBI agent who pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia.
What To Look For :
Massive star cast, Silver Linings was more of a over-rated movie for me but have a feeling this may work for me. And if it doesn't, then there's Jenniffer Lawrence to watch, she is looking damn hot in all the stills of movie.

Her (Febuary 14)
directed by Spike Jonze, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Amy Adams

Plot :
A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly purchased operating system that's designed to meet his every need.
What To Look For :
I haven't even seen the trailer, don't know a thing about director or the lead actor, but the great reviews film has got in away India release, its Imdb rating, plus the plot that sounds so different.. I am very much keen to see this movie.

Highway (Febuary 21)
directed by Imtiaz Ali, starring Alia Bhatt, Randeep Hooda

Plot :
A road film and a journey with unlikely companions. What you discover about yourself and your society while being out of it.
What To Look For :
After Rockstar, Its tough for Imtiaz to outdo himself. Going by trailer, this one looks very different from his last 3 films. This one like Jab We met could be more female oriented, while the basic theme of finding yourself is still there. I didn't like Alia in 'Student of the year', but have a feeling this film will work, and also there is A R Rahman-Irshad Kamil pair that was exceptional in Rockstar.

The Monuments Men (Febuary 21)
directed by George Clooney, starring Matt Damon, George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman

Plot :
An unlikely World War II platoon are tasked to rescue art masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their owners.
What To Look For :
As seen by the plot, this isn't a routine war movie, which is why it made me interested plus Matt-George together on screen would be exciting to watch. Also, Clooney as a director was very good in his last outing, so he may work the magic once more.

12 Years a Slave ( Febuary 21)
directed by Steve McQueen, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt

Plot :
In the antebellum United States, a free black man from upstate New York is abducted and sold into slavery. Story about his fight for survival and freedom.
What To Look For :
Its hard to watch movies where a character is tortured to hell, and then how it manages to come out of it. The trailer looked pretty hard-hitting, and a 8.6 Imdb rating speaks for a quality movie.  Could well be an emotionally touching movie.

Queen (Febuary 28)
directed by Vikas Bahl, starring Rajkumar Rao, Kangana Ranaut

Plot :
Delhi based girl lands up in Paris all alone for her honeymoon, as she is in for a adventure ride in a country completely alien to her.
What To Look For :
Kangana's terrific comic timing in its trailer makes this movie to look forward to. Even in Tanu Weds Manu she was good until the point drama came into the narrative. Also, fresh pairing with RajKumar Rao who has been in great form in last two years.

Shaadi Ke Side Effects (Febuary 28)
directed by Saket Chaudhary, starring Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan

Plot :
After going through man ups and downs in their love affair, this couple (different leads this time) finally got married. But, now they are about to face the after effects of marriage, and the common issues that a married couple go through.
What To Look For :
Saket has made only one film before i.e  'Pyar Ke Side Effects' in 2006.. surprising that it took so long for his next venture. That movie was hilarious, and this one appears to be on same lines. Once again a fresh pair to watch, Farhan-Vidya both are known for doing out of the box movies, so to see them together is going to be a treat to watch.. provided the laughs are plenty.

Happy Ending (March 28)
directed by Krishna DK-Raj Nidimoru, starring Saif Ali Khan, Ileana Dcruz, Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey, Priety Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Govinda

What To Look For :
Another mad-com from the director duo, with Go Goa Gone and Shor in the City their last outings. Cameos from Kareena and Preity, with Saif-Ileana pairing, and good supporting cast. The plot unknown so far, but expectations are high from the director, plus the music in his films has been good too. 'Saibo' , 'Karma is a bitch', 'Slowly Slowly' and 'Khoon Choos Le' to name some of them.

Captain America : The Winter Soldier (April 4)
directed by Anthony Russo-Joe Russo, starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Sameul L Jackson

Plot :
Struggle of Captain America to embrace his role in the modern world, and battles new threat from old history, the Soviet Agent known as Winter Soldier.
What To Look For :
To include this movie surprises me the most, but one of its trailer I saw recently made me interested. Captain America is probably weakest looking super hero, and I haven't seen any of last parts, hopefully I would before release of this one. Plus unlike Thor : Dark world, this one will have Avengers part too. Not having high expectations, but still one of awaited movies.

Transcendence (April 11)
directed by Wally Pfister, starring Johnny Depp, Kate Mara, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman

Plot :
A terminally ill scientist downloads his mind into a computer. This grants him power beyond his wildest dreams, and soon he becomes unstoppable.
What To Look For :
He has worked with Nolan as cinematographer in all his movies, this being his first as director. The plot looks insane and interesting, whether he turns out a great director or not is to be seen.

2 States (April 18)
directed by Abhishek Varman, starring Arjun Kapoor, Alia Bhatt

Plot :
He is Punjabi, She is South Indian, and they fall in love. But, the battle is to convince each other's family.
What To Look For :
We have seen many movies probably with this plot, but Chetan's novel presented it in a very romantic, realistic way, therefore it may well make for a well adapted movie from the novel. Chetan's '3 mistakes of life' (Kai Po Che) and 'five point someone' (3 Idiots) were very well made movies. Question here is will the new director Abhishek do justice to the novel, and Arjun-Alia make Krish-Ananya romance worth rooting for while they fight against each other's family.

City Lights (May 1)
directed by Hansal Mehta, starring RajKumar Rao,Patralekha

Plot :
Based on the life of a poor farmer who comes to the city of Mumbai in search of a better life.
What To Look For :
After a successful outing in 'Shahid', the director-actor duo return with a new movie, made under Vishesh Films banner. Its a love story set against backdrop of a thriller, and adapted from the award winning UK movie 'Metro Manila' that released last year. Keen to see RajKumar Rao in this movie where his character probably goes through a transformation.

The Amazing SpiderMan 2 (May 2)
directed by Marc Webb, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti

Plot :
A mysterious company Oscorp sends up a slew of supervillians that Peter Parker has to fight against, and they are much more powerful than he can imagine.
What To Look For :
The first part worked for me unlike many others, but then I haven't seen the other Spiderman series. Andrew Garfield for me fits the geeky Peter Parker who suddenly realizes what special powers he has, and the responsibility he has with it. 1st part was low on action mainly for developing Peter Parker's character, so I expect 2nd part to be full of thrilling moments and the trailer does promise that. Jamie Foxx as Electro could go either way, may be awesome or a hamming performance. And then there's Emma Stone, whom I got crush on during 1st part, she has a lovely smile.

Daawat e Ishq (May 9)
directed by Habib Faisal, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Parineeti Chopra, Anupam Kher

What To Look For :
Aditya's look surprised me when I saw it first time. Rumour is that the plot is on dowry issue, while both Aditya and Parineeti belong to small town. Parineeti's choice of movies so far has been on par with Ranbir, very different and top class acting. Habib's last film Ishaqzaade wasn't as good as Do Dooni Chaar was, but he is a talented director, so can expect him to comeback with a good movie. Sajid-Wajid as music composer is disappointing aspect of the movie at present.

Godzilla (May 16)
directed by Gareth Edwards, starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen
Plot :
A giant radioactive monster called Godzilla appears to wreak destruction on mankind.
What To Look For :
Yet to see 1954 classic, but this one appears to be made really well. There's terror that people have to face, and to fight against this monster is gonna be one hell of a challenge. To show just a glimpse of Godzilla in end of trailer was a super idea.

Peekay (June 6)
directed by Raj Kumar Hirani, starring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt

What To Look For :
After a successful try at masala genre, Aamir returns to his kind of films. There has been stills of him in ghaghra, reports saying he plays a drunkard man, some say alien and then he will have a nude sequence. How much of all this is true will be known once poster and trailer comes up. Anushka Sharma is a turn-off for me, apart from her the rest cast looks super. Keen to know if Sushant has decent screen time in movie instead of small cameo. Aamir-Raj pairing last time in 3 Idiots broke records, and Hirani has made 3 films till now all of which have been huge successes. So, this film surely going to be one of most awaited ones for all quality movie lovers.

Kick (July 27)
directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, starring Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda

What To Look For :
Remake of Telugu movie, this could be the Salman Khan movie I would love to watch provided the story isn't changed too much and Sajid who is trying at direction for 1st time does well. Looks like this won't be a typical dhishum dhishum salman action movie.  Also, Randeep Hooda in a supporting role would be good for the film.  And Salman-Jacqueline will be a new pairing to watch out, though she may be limited to a lesser role.

Kill Dil (September 5)
directed by Shaad Ali, starring Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar, Parineeti Chopra, Govinda

What To Look For :
Shaad Ali returns after his 2007 debacle Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, which I personally liked a lot.  The film revolves on the tricks that the heart plays on the unsuspecting victim of love. The title reminds of Kill Bill from Tarantino, must be influenced by it. Shaad Ali in a interview said that the settings would be different from his previous movies, and this ain't a total romantic movie. Govinda in a negative shade would be nice experiment if it works. Ranveer has been one of actor that I like a lot, this film may take us back to Band Baaja Baaraat character (going by the looks) which I don't mind as he has done different genres in between. Also, Shankar Ehsan Loy re-unite with Gulzar, hope there's a 'Bol na halke halke' for us.

Gone Girl (October 3)
directed by David Fincher, starring Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Fugit, Kim Dickens

Plot :
A woman mysteriously disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary.
What To Look For :
Its based on the best selling novel 'Gone Girl' which I haven't read, good news for me. I loved David's last two movies, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network, which is the reason for my interest in this movie. Would like to know where the story goes, does anyone kidnap her, or she willingly does it, or there's lot more that we can imagine. The readers of the novel may know the answers though, rest like me can wait for the release.

Interstellar (November 7)
directed by Christopher Nolan, starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Matt Damon

Plot :
A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
What To Look For :
Gravity despite being a great movie (with all oscar nominations) didn't click for me as I am not much into space oriented movies. Interstellar appears to be in the same genre, and the teaser didn't really attract me as usual Nolan films do. But, Nolan is a special director for me, only one whose all films I have seen, and not disliked a single out of them. Though, the film will have to be special this time to make me appreciate it, and I am counting on Nolan to do it. The cast looks massive, with Matt Damon in a small role. Even Irrfan Khan was to be part of movie, but he rejected it. Not to forget, there's the ever reliable Hans Zimmer in background score department.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshi (December 12)
directed by Dibakar Banerjee, starring Sushant Singh Rajput

What To Look For :
You gotta be kidding me if this film ain't on your much awaited year list. Dibakar Banerjee has been simply outstanding in all the films he has given till now, even his short story in Bombay Talkies. Dibakar's first movie for yash raj banner, so this may not be a low budget movie like has been case previously. Sushant Singh Rajput has shown he has got great screen presence in both his films so far. This one will be a good test for him, being a different genre film. The shooting locales going to be old lanes of Kolkata, to establish the 1942's city during the movie. While the story is based on popular serial, written by Sharadindu Bandopadhyay. Easily the detective movie I am most looking for out of many others releasing this year.

Bombay Velvet (December 25)
directed by Anurag Kashyap, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar

What To Look For :
Another director whose movies I keenly wait for, specially after his Gangs of Wasseypur magic. Ranbir has tried so many different roles till now, and Bombay Velvet could well be another of them as he plays a boxer in the movie (not sure a part of movie or entirely).  I can only hope that Anushka isn't having another bubbly loud character. While Karan Johar in a negative shade would be something to watch for. The movie is set in 1950-60's, shooting going in Sri Lanka, and its told that it will be a 3 film trilogy that will tell how Mumbai became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. While in a interview Ranbir stated that his character has a bit of Scarface, Goodfellas in it. Could well be the best way to end the year if the film lives upto all the expectations.

Bobby Jasoos
directed by Samar Sheikh, starring Vidya Balan, Ali Fazal, Arjan Bajwa

What To Look For :
Samar who previously been involved in art department of biggies like Dhoom, Chak De India, Bunty and Babli, gets to work with Vidya Balan in his very first movie as director. Vidya is probably female aamir khan when it comes to perfection, as seen in the still itself.. After not so impressive year with a below par film like Ghanchakkar, this will be important film for her. And to see her in detective character will be fun.

Mary Kom
directed by Omung Kumar, starring Priyanka Chopra

What To Look For :
After having seen biopic made on Milkha Singh last year, its time for biopic on Indian well known boxing star Mary Kom. The question is will the first time director be successful like Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra. Omung Kumar has also been a art director of films like Saawariya and Black, which tells a lot about his creativity talent. Priyanka Chopra over last 2-3 years has done more of nonsense movies that doesn't justify her talent, but this one if well made will prove to be another gem in her filmography.

Phantom
directed by Kabir Khan, starring Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif

What To Look For :
Might well be another terrorism based movie after New York and Ek Tha Tiger (which was more on RAW agents). I prefer to see Saif in intense roles more than comedy or romantic, and here it could well be one of them. Hopefully, the backdrop of movie won't be romantic like it was in Ek Tha Tiger. Katrina-Saif should make a good pair, and we may get to see Katrina doing some action scenes once again.

Ugly
directed by Anurag Kashyap, starring Ronit Roy, Rahul Bhatt, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Vineet Kumar Singh

Plot :
Rahul, who plays actor in movie, leaves his daughter in car while going to meet his friend, and when he comes back, he founds her missing. What follows is an endless series of blame game.
What To Look For :
A psychological emotional drama, with some insane sequences visible in the trailer itself. This movie was supposed to release last year, hoping it doesn't get delay much more specially with Anurag's Bombay Velvet coming at end of year. Good to see Tejaswini after long time, and also Ronit Roy in a powerful role after Udaan.

Haider
directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, starring Shahid Kapur, Shraddha Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Tabu

What To Look For :
Aren't we fed up of watching Shahid in movies he shouldn't be part of, finally he is doing a good film and it is with none other than Vishal Bharadwaj with whom he did the insane Kaminey. Haider is termed as last part of the Shakespeare trilogy, Hamlet. To be shot entirely in Kashmir, the film may release by end of year possibly. Also, a great chance for Shraddha Kapoor to work with a well known director. Irrfan will be seen in a small but a key role. And there's Tabu too who might be playing supporting role. Almost a certainty that music will be by Vishal himself, lyrics by Gulzar and at least one song sung by Rekha Bharadwaj, not that I am complaining as the trio have given some gems in past.

Serena (September - October)
directed by Susanne Bier, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper

Plot :
In Depression-era North Carolina, the future of George Pemberton's timber empire becomes complicated when it is learned that his wife, Serena, cannot bear children.
What To Look For :
The film is about a young woman through a mental decline, which is played by Jennifer Lawrence. If she gives a great performance, then could well be third time in row to get nominated at Oscars, and maybe win too (provided she wins for American Hustle in supporting actress category).

The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part1 (November - December)
directed by Francis Lawrence, starring Jenniffer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Julianne Moore

Plot :
Katniss reluctantly becomes the symbol of a mass rebellion against the autocratic Capitol.
What To Look For :
The 2nd part was low on thrills and only Jennifer Lawrence was worth watching it for. Expecting that the movie will be great too in this 3rd part of quadrilogy.

Masala Movies - Why do films like Chennai Express work ?

With the way Chennai Express has broken records despite being such a ridiculous bad movie... I thought of writing this post.  My question is - Was it the movie that won, or the non-stop promotions of Shahrukh or it only tells the big bad truth about Indian audience ? Surely its not the 1st one for me...

Just today I saw a post on facebook comparing Chennai Express with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and as expected Chennai Express got more votes in it too. Needless to say that the blind fans are the ones who prefer a bad movie over a very good one.

Its not the first time when a over the top senseless movie earned lot of money, many salman films did it in past, specially Bodyguard or Race2. Par afsos tab hota hai jab you see a stupid movie get the no.1 tag and break records. It tells how bad audience taste has become.  I wont be surprised if some shahrukh lovers call Chennai Express as one of their everfav shahrukh movies. Maybe I have to stop associating 'Intelligence' with fans as well as lovers.

The main point is, why do Masala movies earn so much. Even 3 Idiots apart from 'action' had everything in it but if you have good sense of watching movies, you would agree to me that 3 Idiots was miles ahead of Chennai Express in quality (No, I am not aamir fan.. and Yes, I am Shahrukh lover).

The aam janta doesn't like 'no entertainment' movies, 'Shanghai', 'Lootera'  and 'Madras Cafe' are best examples. Shanghai was a total failure at boxoffice, despite being among the top5 films of the year for me. Lootera had small entertainment quotient that definately helped it, but I noticed people having problems with the content in theatre. Madras Cafe has worked very well so far, but why not 100 crs or 200 crs for films like this ?

Does it mean that masala movies have repeativity value ? Or does it mean that there is audience that watches masala movies again and again, but the audience that watches non-masala movies don't like to re-watch it ?  The masala loving audience mainly constitutes either the aam janta or the family audience, while non-masala reduces both of those audiences to a larger extent. Probably there lies the difference why the former films work so much.

Please don't give me the crap that people come to watch movies to free their mind therefore they love masala movies. That's the cliche and idiotic line I have heard from many people.

I don't keep track of Hollywood movies, but would love to know if bad movies earn so much there too ? And are its audience also so stupid like ours to not accept that they liked a bad movie.

If every good film or atleast 70% of them were accepted by the audience, then I would not have felt bad watching Chennai Express reach 200cr. But, its not the case.. here people make bad films earn way too much, and good films end up as flops most of the times.

I don't know if that day would ever come when the cards reverse and people appreciate good films more. If they like bad films that also is welcome, but please prefer good over bad.  Its true that everyone have their own likings but another fact is.. when bad films work so much, the film-makers get excited to make more poor movies because they know that audience is there who would accept it and take it to 100 cr or above.

Today I unfollowed shahrukh for first time on twitter, such is anger towards a super bad film doing so well. Now, I would follow him only when he does a good film...

This post is only for those who didnt' like Chennai Express, the others won't connect to it. and I have no interest to connect to them either.

May Indian audience change for good one day and our films grow creatively ....

100 crore Club - Hindi Movies

Last Updated  - 2nd, June 2015.

This list I got from Bollywood Hungama website... 36 films have crossed 100 cr mark. Most likely the list would be near to accurate.

The numbers are in crores.

1. PK - 340.80
2. Dhoom3 - 284.27
3. Krrish3 - 244.92
4. Kick - 231.85
5. Chennai Express - 227.13
6. Happy New Year - 203
7. Three Idiots - 202.47
8. Ek Tha Tiger - 198.78
9. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani - 188.57
10. Bang Bang - 181.03
11. Dabangg2 - 155
12. Bodyguard - 148.86
13. Singham Returns - 140.62
14. Dabangg - 138.88
15. Rowdy Rathore - 133.25
16. Jab Tak Hai Jaan - 120.85
17. Ready - 119.78
18. Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela - 116.33
19. Jai Ho - 116
20. Agneepath - 115
21. Ra.One - 114.29
22. Ghajini - 114
23. Holiday - 112.18
24. Barfi - 112.15
25. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag - 108.93
26. Don2 - 106.71
27. Golmaal3 - 106.34
28. Housefull2 - 106
29. Ek Villain - 105.62
30. Son of Sardaar - 105.03
31. Tanu Weds Manu Returns - 103.42
32. Bol Bacchan - 102.94
33. Two States - 102.13
34. Grand Masti - 102
35. Race2 - 100.45
36. Singham - 100.30

The red marked movies don't deserve a place in the 100+ crore club for me. Interesting thing to note is that almost all of these are either masala movies or comedy, with exceptions of Dhoom3 and Kick who were able to please me with its style. Also, most of them earned so much due to mad promotions or item songs to bring in the 'aam janta' to the theatres.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Barfi would be the two films that made me most happy when I came to know that they entered 100 core club. These films were creatively different, and the actors would have gone through a harder journey filming it than they would had done in any of their other movies.

PK’s record would be quite tough to break though it will happen some day, who knows this year only. Aamir Khan has tendency to always go one step ahead.  He was first to give 200 cr movie, and now 300 cr movie. And thankfully, both those movies were worth it.

I for one don't give importance to how much a film earned, because I liked the movie or not is the question. But if I do like/love a film, then to see that film do well at boxoffice is always nice. Though in our country, good film has less value, stardom is favoured. And I guess even when all 3 khans retire, this attitude of people wont change as actors get fanclubs with one hit film only these days.

Hoping some better and good films enter this 100 crore club in future.

Most Awaited Films of 2013

Here's a look at my top awaited movies this year ..

P.S : The release dates are subject to change.

Inkaar (January 18)
directed by Sudhir Mishra, starring Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh

Based on sexual harassment, though that instantly reminds of Aitraaz but here its most likely the plot would focus much more on the issue. Trailer and 1st look have been good, plus Sudhir films in the past have clicked for me so have pretty high expectations.

AkaashVani (January 25)
directed by Luv Ranjan, starring Kartik Tiwari, Nushrat Bharucha

His previous film 'Pyar ka Punchnama' worked only for the three male friends bonding part to me, this time the responsibility is much more on Nushrat and Kartik alone. The trailers have been crazy, mad, romantic and very emotional. Their chemistry looking really good, and I have a feeling this film would click to me. Music also is quite good, Tera mera naam, Crazy lover and Rumaani to name a few. Only the ending worries me, whether Luv Ranjan tackles it properly and not hurries it up as most likely it may be a happy end going by the tagline 'Love gets a second chance'.

Race2 (January 25)
directed by Abbas-Mastaan, starring Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and Amisha Patel

This film in my list may surprise a few but I liked Race very much, so keenly waiting to see this new part in the series. Allah Duhaayi Hai (new version) is awesome, but the rest songs dissappoint. Saif-John rivalry in the movie (will it be as good as Saif-Akshay one) and Deepika in a possible grey role would be something to watch for.

David (Febuary 1)
directed by Bejoy Nambiar, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chiyaan Vikram, Vinay Virmani, Isha Shervani, Monica Dogra, Tabu

The plot excites me, One name, three people and different era's. If the screenplay is good enough, this movie should be real good. Plus, I love stylish movies and Bejoy impressed me a lot in Shaitan with the way he filmed mad sequences. The theme is kickass, and the music is again creative plus worth listening to non stop. I am specially looking to see Chiyaan-Isha-Tabu part the most. And also one of my crush, Monica Dogra.. how good she looks even in that single shot of the trailer and I madly loved the trailer...

Special Chabbis (Febuary 8)
directed by Neeraj Pandey, starring Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpaayee, Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergill, Kajal Aggarwal

A Wednesday was one of my favourite movies in 2008, and after a gap of 4.5 years finally Neeraj Pandey's next movie comes up. Though this time from the trailer it appears to be less serious and more comical unless the ending surprises again. The only shot that I didn't like in the trailer was the routine Akshay dancing with the actress. It would be great to see Manoj trying to catch Akshay who most of the times would be one step ahead. Asli power dil mein hoti hai..

Kai Po Che (Febuary 22)
directed by Abhishek Kapoor, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, Raj Kumar Yadav, Amrita Puri

Another director whose last film came way back in 2008 (i.e Rock On), Abhishek Kapoor with his new offering based on '3 Mistakes of Life' novel by Chetan Bhagat. The question is, will it go '3Idiots' way or 'Hello' ? When I read the novel, it always gave the feel of like I am reading story of a film specially the thrilling end. I hope the end isn't altered way too much. The choice of Raj Kumar Yadav in  Govind role is perfect, while Sushant Singh Rajput impressed a hell lot in the trailer who plays Ishan (the one who turns bad after chain of events). Amit Trivedi's music and background score could also give the screenplay an added edge.

The Attacks of 26/11 (March 1)
directed by Ram Gopal Verma, starring Nana Patekar, Sanjeev Jaiswal

It was good promotional strategy to release the first 7 minutes of the film instead of teaser/trailer as first look of the movie, and that boat sequence was very well done. The film based on 26/11 incident if well executed by Rgv is likely to bring him lots of praise, but it can be vice-versa too. I think he does well when it comes to hard-hitting movies, for instance Rann was a very good take on the state of media. How he captures the sad incident, and what kind of treatment he gives to Kasab character... will he show little or too much of emotions in his favour ? I hope not. Nana Patekar performance would also be something to look for. Going by Amitabh bachchan's tweets the film is very good (but then he is good friend of Rgv, so can't trust fully).

Jolly LLB (March 15)
directed by Subhash Kapoor, starring Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla

Phas Gaye re Obama fame director's next movie, the trailer was superb with Arshad Warsi comic timing on the spot. With good starcast, and a director who gave very good last movie.. the expectations are high. The movie is about a struggling lawyer trying to become successful. Like his previous movie, this one also appears to be mix of drama and humour at same time. Plus, courtroom based movies always interests me a lot.

3G (March 15)
directed  by Sheershak & Shantanu, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonal Chauhan

A supernatural thriller by first time directors, with Sonal Chauhan making a comeback into main lead role since Jannat. The trailer gives resemblances to Karthik calling Karthik (if the dual role goes that way) and 13B (if the spirit revenge is similar). This could be Neil Nitin Mukesh film to impress critics, ever since Johnny Gaddar he has got less powerful roles though I have liked his performances consistently. By looks of trailer, he may have done very good work in this movie. Music is by Mithoon, another reason the film becomes important.. even his song in trailer is addictive.

Ek Thi Daayan (April 18)
directed by Kannan Iyer, starring Emraan Hashmi, Konkana Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin, Huma Qureshi

Its trailer was interesting, very dark feel though I didn't love it that much as many did. But, its story about a successful musician who gets hallucinations about a daayan haunting him, the one who killed his parents when he was a child and he thinks its the same daayan who is back to destroy him.. This plot appealed to me. I won't be surprised if Konkana or Huma turns out to be that Daayan, most likely it wont be Kalki unless the writers went a step ahead having all 3 as daayans (you never know). Would be great to see Konkana back into a film after quite a gap. Huma within a year has become one of my favourites, and in that single shot of trailer her expressions look is too good. Vishal Bharadwaj has written dialogues and done music, with Gulzar as lyricist so that raises the expectations bar.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (May 31)
directed by Ayan Mukerji, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kalki Koechlin

After doing different roles one after another, Ranbir will finally be seen in a regular commercial hindi movie. But with Ayan Mukerji director (wake up sid fame), I expect it to still be different from other films. Ranbir-Deepika were last seen in Bachna ae Haseeno, so after a long gap they coming together.. most likely this film would generate lots of curiosity once the 1st look and trailer comes out. Kalki and Aditya play the supporting roles. Pritam as music composer has to be very good, I feel these movies require great music. Can't wait to listen the title track, how well they re-make it.

Ghanchakkar (June 21)
directed by Rajkumar Gupta, starring Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan

The talented Rajkumar Gupta who made No one killed Jessica is now back with a comedy thriller. Emraan plays a con-man good at safe cracking, with Vidya playing his wife. He's set on one last final heist that would give lots of money, but has some plans unknown to the people  involved with him that would lead to chaos and confusions. I liked their pair in 'The Dirty Picture' even if I didn't like that movie. Plus Vidya worked with Gupta previously, and he very well portrayed the suffering her character went through. Loved both his previous movies, so keenly awaiting this film.

Lootera (July 5)
directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, starring Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha

His 2nd film after the much praised 'Udaan'. Ranveer plays a character who is fond of the style of Dev Anand. The film is set in 50's backdrop, with Ranveer and Sonakshi falling in love under strange circumstances. Its going to be first film for Ranveer Singh outside the Yashraj banner. It was expected to release last year, hope there are no further delays now.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (July 12)
directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, starring Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor

The theme of the film is 'Zindagi se bhaago nahi, zindagi ke saath bhaago', based on the legendary athelete Milkha Singh. Its first teaser was pretty good, with Shankar Ehsan Loy doing well in the background and the song 'zinda hai toh'. Though, I still feel AR Rahman would had given more into this kind of movie (SEL may prove me wrong when film comes out). Looking forward to watch Farhan in what could be a very important film to him as a actor (yet to have a solo hit). Sonam expectedly would be weak link in the movie..

Once upon a time in Mumbaai 2 (August 8)
directed by Milan Luthria, starring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Imran Khan, Sonali Bendre

The story moves forward from the 1st part, so its on Shoaib and how he expands his power on Mumbai after killing Sultan. Its set in 80's showing the rise of the evil prince to turn the king of the Underworld. Akshay Kumar replaces Emraan as Shoaib in this part, and I think he would perfectly suit the character (not taking anything away from Emraan who was brilliant in the 1st part). Sonakshi Sinha would be right choice only if her character has same shades as that one of Mumtaz because she can look the innocent girl who can be fooled easily. Imran Khan could possibily be playing one of key person working for Shoaib, as I don't see him into a main role. The movie surely be stylish and with some great punchlines, and its next to my birthday so hope its good one.

Phata Poster Nikla Hero (August 23)
directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, starring Shahid Kapur, Ileana DCruz

I liked his last comedy 'Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani', though it was nowhere close to his classic Andaz Apna Apna (can't even make a film as good as that again). This one too is on same lines, comedy with lots of masala, typical hindi commercial movie. Shahid Kapur ever since Kaminey has been completely off-track, plus his movies aren't doing great at boxoffice either so its important that this film clicks for him. Ileana DCruz after a superb performance in Barfi as supporting actress, would get the main lead role for first time in Hindi industry, interesting to see if she lives upto the standard she has built with her 1st film or she fades like Asin.

Bullet Raja (September 6)
directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, starring Saif Ali Khan, Jimmy Shergill, Irrfan Khan, Sonakshi Sinha

He got plenty of praise for Paan Singh Tomar, I liked his work in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster too. His new film is based on crime in Uttar Pradesh with touch of humour, with the first look of both leading actors looking quite good, this film could well surprise at boxoffice.

Besharam (October 2)
directed by Abhinav Kashyap, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Pallavi Sharda, Neetu Singh, Rishi Kapoor

After Dabangg, Abhinav's next film is a crime-drama about a con-man from Delhi i.e Ranbir who tries to escape the law with two Haryanvi cops, Rishi and Neetu, after him. Neetu would be more aggressive out of the couple in this movie, should be fun watching them both in this new avatar. Also, another new role that Ranbir gonna try with this movie, the first look is pretty good and the tagline 'Na Sammaan ka moh, na apmaan ka bhay'. Pallavi Sharda gets the lead role who was one of the supporting actress in Dia Mirza's home production Love BreakUps Zindagi.

Krrish3 (November)
directed by Rakesh Roshan, starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi, Kangana Ranaut

The father-son duo returns this Diwali, the much talked about 3rd part in the superhero series after Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish. The story would continue forward which means there should be dual role of Hrithik, plus the villian shoes taken up by Vivek Oberoi who offlate had been doing nonsense films, if this role is well written and he enacts it rightly then could be the film after 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' that would give him lots of applause. For me, Krrish was decent film with 1st half full of forced humour, so this time around hoping they have more of action and special effects.

Dhoom3 (December)
directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, starring Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Katrina Kaif

Aamir in a yashraj movie, and playing the villian role in the next part of Dhoom series, was surprising to everyone including Aamir fans. He's choosy about right scripts, so that either means that this movie has something special that attracted him or it means he is desperate for another masala movie, as his last such film was Fanaa. Whatever be the reasons, for a film lover it would be a sight watching him play a villain role after quite a while (or grey role as it would be most likely). Also, Katrina-Aamir pair is something I am keenly waiting for, she lived upto my expectations against Salman as well as Shahrukh, so this is the final hurdle for her. For me, once again Uday Chopra would be the weak link.. he was tolerable in Dhoom, but in Dhoom2 he was bit irritating to me. Vijay Krishna Acharya dissappointed me in Tashan big time, but those video game style action sequences were very nicely directed. This time around he has to weave a better screenplay, and not just some good action sequences to impress about.

Ugly (after May)
directed by Anurag Kashyap, starring Ronit Roy, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Rahul Bhatt, Surveen Chawla, Vineet Kumar Singh

Anurag Kashyap movie is always bound to be there in my awaited films list every year. Its a edge of the seat thriller with a emotional angle. In a interview he said that 'the film is about that point in one's life where a character looks back (at his life) and realises that none of his dreams are fulfilled. Then something happens which makes him realise that he and the morality is so fragile'. Though there are no big stars in the movie, Ronit Roy and Tejaswini are actors I have liked in the past. Tejaswini was superb in Paanch (unreleased debut movie of Anurag).

Some of the other movies that I may like this year are :

• Murder3 (directed by Vishesh Bhatt, starring Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sara Loren)
• Aatma (directed by Suparn Verma, starring Bipasha Basu, Nawazuddin Siddiqui)
• I, Me Aur Main (directed by Kapil Sharma, starring John Abraham, Chitrangada, Prachi)
• Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga (directed  by Anshul Sharma, starring Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain)
• Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, starring Randeep, Jimmy, Irrfan, Mahie, Soha)

• Ram Leela (directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Ranveer, Deepika, Richa Chadda)
• Sher Khan (directed by Sohail Khan, starring Salman Khan)
• Rambo Rajkumar (directed by Prabhu Deva, starring Shahid Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha)
• Chennai Express (directed by Rohit Shetty, starring Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone)
• Kick (directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, starring Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha)

• Shoot Out At Wadala (directed by Sanjay Gupta, starring Anil, John, Sanjay Dutt)
• Gunday (directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra)
• Shahid (directed by Hansal Mehta, starring Raj Kumar Yadav)

P.K, Happy New Year, Dedh Ishqiya, 2 States, Ghayal Returns, Kill Dil are some films that I am not sure if they would release this year or not, else they are on my list too.

Hollywood :

The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo, Iron Man3 starring Robert Downey Jr and The Lone Ranger starring Johnny Depp are the films that I am waiting. Rest films I am gonna explore, as not much knowledge of directors and actors in english films.
