Dialogue Promos : Bombay Velvet

With 10 days to go for the release of the film … Three new Dialogue Promos of Bombay Velvet are out ..

1st one has Vivaan Shah dialogue with shots of Ranbir-Anushka fights.

2nd covers the main theme, and Ranbir’s ‘Naaice to meet you’ line. New shot of Karan too.

3rd has a fun conversation between Ranbir and Anushka that is pretty non-interesting, could well do with chopping this one off the film.

Trailer : Hamari Adhuri Kahani

The story is based on real life love triangle between parents of Mahesh Bhatt and his stepmother.

I am slightly disappointed with the trailer, as I didn’t knew Rajkumar Rao would be playing a husband who treats his wife (played by Vidya Balan) badly, and tortures her. Plus, the starting dialogues of Emraan Hashmi are soooooo loud, why?

Leaving that asides, the trailer is still pretty likable. There’s that very good romantic feel in the scenes of Emraan-Vidya, good chemistry they share which was visible even in ‘The Dirty Picture’ as well as ‘Ghanchakkar’.

Also, the emotional side to Vidya’s story, although its slightly manipulative due to that husband character they have put on, but the dialogues are very good ‘yeh raatein mujhe ghere huye hai, kya tum mujhe mera ateeth bula sakte ho’.

And then, there is reliable music of Mithoon and Jeet Ganguly, the title track used in trailer sounds good, will have to wait for its promo though to make a proper opinion.

Important movie for Emraan and Vidya, whose films in last 2 years haven’t been memorable at all.

Hoping director Mohit Suri delivers a great romantic movie this time, something on the lines of ‘Awarapan’, his last three movies did give a hint that he is coming closer to it.

Trailer : Bombay Velvet

Not always does the MOST ANTICIPATED comes with the desired result. Same is the case for trailer of Bombay Velvet. Being a huge admirer of Anurag Kashyap cinema, I had been waiting for this since the day this movie was announced. Who doesn’t want to see Anurag go main-stream and have Ranbir as main lead. But the trailer says something else, mind you just the trailer, not the film!

The dark tone Anurag movies have isn’t visible in trailer at all, which was very surprising because even if its a commercial cinema I expect Anurag to insert all the dark flavors into it (ala Dev.D probably). The trailer has been badly cut, bg is very loud at start and end making the dialogues not easy to listen, and even felt the rhythm in cuts was missing.

The story is about journey of Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) who is a street fighter and wants to become a big shot of Bombay in the 1960’s.

Ranbir  shines in each and every frame, its bit early to say it but could be his career best performance even with that accent(though that means he has to surpass Jordan of Rockstar). Love the shot where he is practicing fighting while having cigg, and when he tells Anushka that it is just the start of becoming big shot, how far he still has to go. And the scarface tribute (maybe like GOW-Godfather car shoot scene), where Ranbir goes mad, oh how I would love if that is as long a sequence as it was in Scarface.

Retro feel is visible entirely, specially loved Anushka’s look who plays a jazz singer though I am slightly worried that maybe they revealed too much about her character unless Anurag did it intentionally.

Bombay of 1960’s looks spectacular, hopefully movie won’t be just limited to punchlines else we already have seen OUATIM.

Karan Johar could prove to be miscasted going by his shots, mainly for the dialogue delivery, he was looking very awkward while saying ‘main jo bhi karta hoon, khud ke liye karta hoon'.

Love the romantic bg that plays after 40th sec, I was hoping its Amit Trivedi but his tweet suggests that the bgs used in trailer are by Raju Singh, so have to wait for music release to know better.

Raveena Tandon(cameo), Kay Kay Menon (just one quick shot visible) and other cast aint shown in trailer.

I still fully believe in Anurag Kashyap, the ensemble cast this film has, plus Thelma as editor and Amit Trivedi as Composer.. this trailer would be the only low thing about the movie. And fingers crossed Karan might be likable in the movie. Lets just wait and watch!

Trailer : Haider

Vishal Bharadwaj movies always have a special corner for me, just like Anurag Kashyap or Imtiaz Ali movies have. Though, his last film ‘Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola’ wasn’t upto the level mainly for wrong casting of leads. Going by the trailer of ‘Haider’, it looks like he’s got everything right this time perfectly, and might well give another 7 Khoon Maaf or Kaminey kind of movies which I madly loved.

Lots of stunning visuals from Kashmir, plus we see Shahid transform through various looks as he seeks revenge of his father. Based on Shakespeare Hamlet (yet to read), keen to see how much Shahid gets his act right, specially the one where he gets totally insane, like the shot at 2:00 where he is imitating shooting himself or the dialogue scene ‘hello mike testing, 123, awaaz aa rahi hai aap logo ko.. hello hello o o o’. Watch his expressions in 1:48 shot, killer.

Needless to say, the best part of trailer (there are hell lot to be frank) is Haider i.e Shahid telling Shraddha about his intentions, ‘To be or Not to be’ (quote from Hamlet) ..

For a change, Shraddha is looking so different and maybe the level of her acting will be high too or atleast I am assuming at the moment.

The cast is amazing, with trustable actors like Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan Khan (in a special appearance as ghost). I hope Tabu-Shahid romantic mother-son plot is restrained..

Not to forget, music will be by Vishal Bharadwaj and there are 10 songs with lyrics by Gulzar. The rock song used in the trailer totally sets the mood for Haider’s journey to revenge.
Ek phoonk se miya, sab udh gaya dhuan, woh jo saans ki ek phaans thi, woh nikal gayi jo kharaash thi.

Still don’t know what part those actors in 1:04 shot are playing. But looks like it will be mad and insane…

Its been just a month when I said Ek Villain is best trailer of 2014, and now Haider has overtaken it, there’s nothing to not like in this trailer, absolutely nothing.

Trailer : Gone Girl

This is the 2nd trailer of the movie to come out few days back, and its increased the curiosity to watch the movie even more. I will be reading the book on which this movie is based, and since the final act i.e the ending is different in movie, it would make a great view specially after knowing through twitter feeds that the ending in the book was a big let down.

Ben Affleck may be receiving a lot of flak in recent few months for his upcoming Batman movie, but I doubt people would like to miss this movie where he looks to be perfectly suited to the role. Its hard to tell whether he is behind his wife gone missing or there’s a lot more to it.  And I like the way Rosamund delivers her dialogues,  a mysterious touch is felt in it.

I have liked David Fincher’s last two movies, and he is a director worth having expectations from.

Trailer : Kick

When I read the story of original Telugu movie, it immediately gave me a kick that this film could/would be the Salman movie to look out for. And the trailer for now has kept that feeling alive.

Its funny that some people call this movie as Salman’s superhero movie, anything to bash him. When I saw the 1st poster of mask, I immediately understood its gonna be worn by him when he plays the character ‘Devil’ and not for some superhero powers.

Aap Devil ke peeche, Devil aapke peeche.. Too much Fun. Salman’s first dialogue in the trailer introducing his character, one without french beard and other with it where he is ‘Devil’. Some good stunt scenes with cycle specially that train one (yes its over the top but lovely to watch for me).

The low point of trailer comes when Jacqueline-Salman love plot is revealed. I personally adore Jacqueline, near to having crush I would say, but the overdose of ‘Kick’ word in dialogues reminded me of Imran Khan’s Luck. Remember how much irritating it was when they kept using Luck in every dialogue of 1st half. I hope this aint case in the film.

Also, how much have they retained the original story, and how much changed it.. would be thing to see. I haven’t seen the original one, but to be frank I would like not too many changes in the plot.

Jacqueline’s dance moves in trailer are impressive, specially the one in red outfit.

The other worrying factor for me is music, as its by Mr Himesh Reshammiya whose songs have stopped clicking with me since he started to act.  Could this be the film where his music finally appeals ? Hope so.

Paida toh main bhi shareef hua tha, par sharafat se apni kabhi nahi bana. Nawazuddin in a negative role is another aspect I am keen to watch, one of actors that has been on the rise in last 2 years with his performances. Love that moment where he shares screen with Salman at 1:44. I hope there will be lot more scenes between them in movie, would be a delight.

The main highlight once again is the dialogue writing by Rajat Arora, I personally loved all his dialogues in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobara’ (even though I didn’t put him in my top5 of best performances of year blog, he was close to it).  How about ending with that ‘Eid aa rahi hai, aur woh apni eidi lene zaroor aayega’ dialogue.. Simply Fantastic.

Fingers Crossed, could be the next masala movie after Dhoom3 that I could madly love, and its been a long gap since I loved a Salman movie completely (Dabangg was last).

Trailer : Ek Villain

Easily the best trailer of 2014 so far, what made it special for me was the emotional layer the person who cut it added by using Shraddha’s version of Galliyan and putting clips over it. Whether it was his/her idea or Mohit or someone, whoever it was, its the only reason the trailer makes such a bigger impact.

They finally showcase character of Riteish Deshmukh, who before this was looking miscast to me but seems he might had just given a very surprising performance in negative shade. Yes, there is a slight similarity between his character and that of Prashant in Murder2, but thats a very tiny one, the reason for killing and other scenarios are different in both films. So pretty immature if you say both are same films.

Apart from Riteish, its Siddharth whom I most looking forward to watch, again his character has slight shades of Shivam from Awarapan. I am keen to see how he plays the negative part (when he is villain) and the revenge part in latter 2nd half. He would be great in romantic one as visible in all the song promos so far, sharing good chemistry with Shraddha Kapoor.  I love Shraddha’s shammi style dance in one of the clips.

Lovely use of Riteish’s dialogue over Shraddha’s alaap, also the one where he looks at himself in mirror. Wonder if he has a back story too or just plays a psycho.

Only irritating moments I found was Krk and ‘shoot me’ guys, hope their screen time would be less in movie.

Also, Milap’s dialogues for a change weren’t bad, though that stress one looked slightly awkward to me.

The story of the movie has nothing new to offer, its gonna be how the trio perform, especially Riteish and Siddharth who are doing very different roles. And how high the movie is on emotions, would determine how much I could love it if i do. Hopefully the background score and use of songs won’t be manipulative like CityLights was.

Very much looking forward for this movie after having loved trailer and almost all songs.

Teaser : Gunday

Very good teaser. Keeps you wanting for more. Interesting thing to note, they cut the teaser keeping the title of film in mind, introducing both Gunde and not showing Priyanka at all. Though her fans may not like it, I certainly liked the idea. Voiceover of Irrfan Khan made me wonder if he is acting also in the movie or not, didnt see his name in starcast.

I am more keen to see Ranveer Singh in the movie, much prefferred actor among both. Though, director's Mere Brother Ki Dulhan didn't gel that well with me, this film is a different territory, might turn out to be his better work.

Waiting for the main trailer and music of Sohail Sen now..

Trailer : Dedh Ishqiya

7 stages of love explained by Khalu with a soothing background, and Babban's comedy touch to it. Loved the trailer

I didn't love Ishqiya, and even unlike others loved only 2 songs. Still, the film had some great moments to remember, specially Arshad-Naseeruddin chemistry, dialogues and the dark humour.

This sequel has all of that visible in its trailer, plus added attraction is Madhuri Dixit. And it looks that writer didn't want Khalu and Babban to love same woman, so there's Huma Quereshi too. I forgot name of that character (at 1:40) who loves to play hide and seek with Khalu-Babban.

Exact story is hard to decipher from the trailer, which is good for me. Probably one of best cut trailers this year, might feature in my top 5.

Another reason that the trailer got my attention was, the 7 stages of love last time I read was in 'Dil Se', one of my most fav film so it directly reminded me of it.

Trailer : Dhoom3

Circus wala sirf aankhon ko nahi, maut ko dhokha dete hai.... Roz.

Andddd the trailer arrives. Super follow up to the teaser. Brilliantly cut with bgs, action, punchlines and look into all the characters.

Trailer starts with a pleasant surprise, Jackie Shroff, I didn't knew he was part of the movie. The way Aamir describes his profession resembles how Michael Caine described the three parts of magic trick in 'The Prestige'. But the similarity ends right there. I could see 3 background themes used in trailer, one is when Aamir puts that hat on for 1st time during start of trailer, then the famous tune of dhoom franchise coming after Aamir's dialogue 'main ghar aa gaya baba', and lastly the signature tune of Aamir in the movie used in teaser also, coming right at the last. All three works for me. Also, 'Dhoom with me' words used at 1:10 might be the title song this time, in Dhoom2 it was 'Dhoom again'.

Aamir is easily the scene-stealer in the trailer itself, and I bet it would be with film too if its a well-made movie. Love his entry scene that involves Hat. The first scene where he is running over building vertically I am hoping was a magic, and not real stunt that would look very bad otherwise. The big change one can see is that Aamir brings more of acting magic and not as much of style as both John and Hrithik did. That could be a reason why script has him not just a thief but also a clown. And it probably works both in favour of Aamir and the film, allowing the actor to take the centre-stage.. what more you want. I had loved 'A signature' in dhoom2, and happy they have kept something similar and infact added more to it. We have a Joker signature (not really similar to joker of 'the dark knight') and a hindi note 'bank waalo, tumhari aisi ki taisi'.

The use of 'Bandhey hai hum uske' line right at end was a master-stroke, another surprise. I thought it won't be used.

Somehow in Dhoom2 I felt Abhishek looked dis-interested in his character, as if he wasn't willing to catch the thief. Here, in clean shave he is looking better, and probably much more keen, with possibly toughest thief to catch. But, he is saddened with that same cliched line shown in trailer itself 'chor aur police ki sirf dushmani hoti hai'. Come on, bahut sun liya chor police dialogue from him. (He says similar thing to John before 'salaame' and to Hrithik before 'dil laga na' in Dhoom and Dhoom2 respectively) I hope his character is much better written.

Uday has lesser shots, and no dialogues in trailer, expectedly, I hope screenplay and editing takes care of his role, no over-dose of his comedy please.

Katrina Kaif looks smashing hot, and what exact role she has is a question, is she working for Abhishek to catch Aamir (which I hope she isn't doing) or she is with Aamir only from start. Love that shot where she is dancing and puts her leg onto Aamir's shoulder, while Aamir looks at her without giving any emotion towards her.

Some great punchlines used too. Stunts I hope aren't limited to only bikes. Hope there is good mixture of magic and stunts.

They have shown the climax scene shot in trailer, I would so love if they have a major twist in the end. For a change, let the villian run away. John died in 1st one, Hrithik stopped stealing in 2nd one, here it has to be something different.

Vijay Krishna Acharya gave me terrible headache with Tashan, so that fear will surely be there. If the screenplay is pacy, and connectable drama, this movie won't fail.

At the moment it looks like the year is ending on a bright side with a Aamir Khan performance to look forward to, plus his pairing with Katrina.

Bring on the music first.

Trailer : The Wolf of Wall Street

This looks like a fucking insane movie, especially Leonardo's character. Only thing missing in 2nd trailer was the background theme used in earlier one. Scorsese-Leonardo pair are in probably for a very good movie.

The 1st trailer, if you missed it.. both awesome trailers.

Trailer : Shaadi Ke Side Effects

I was excited for this project ever since I came to know of Farhan-Vidya pair. Both are such talented actors, and to see them together would be great. Also, I loved the director's last movie 'Pyaar ke Side effects' which had awesome humour.

The trailer is funny, with the post marriage torture shown humurously. Hoping the film is as good as the trailer.

Dheere se kaise girte hai  ?

Trailer : Singh Saab The Great

That last dialogue 'tad tad tad tad' alone is enough to watch this movie in theatre for me. Though, the action looking expectedly very over the top with Sunny Deol as lead, so all about how well drama is executed. Anil Sharma's films haven't clicked ever since Gadar, maybe this might bring that change. One bad thing is that have to watch Prakash Raj once again in same role he doesn't stop doing.

Teaser : Dhoom3

The much awaited teaser arrives. We get to see looks of all actors, specially Katrina who is looking hot. Abhishek not sporting beard like in Dhoom2 and then Uday on bike.

The voiceover of Aamir is brilliant, his confidence in voice and the look in his eyes try to tell how brilliant a thief he is going to be.. to catch.  I would have liked some more shots of Aamir when he says those dialogues, but probably the makers wanna reveal his shots slowly, playing to the anticipation of his lovers. Also, since the actor is Aamir playing the villian.. maybe they wanted to use his acting power more than the style in teaser.  The best part of teaser is, the voiceover of Aamir, that slow motion frame of Aamir riding bike over, and the final stunt scene. Also, I am already liking the new background theme they have kept for him, though I hope they use the old famous one enough in the film too.

One of best teasers ever,  I am gonna watch this teaser a lot until trailer comes, and they did live upto the standard a teaser should had.. a teaser should always make you impatiently wait for the trailer release.

Trailer : Diana

I still remember that day when she died, I was watching the live telecast of her cremation on T.V channels. I didn't knew much about her then except that she was known as 'Princess Diana'.. and I still don't know much about her.

Somehow I feel I would connect to this movie, it looks well made from the trailer, and from it looks like Diana's personal life got affected due to her professional duties. Might even be a oscar performance by Naomi Watts like Meryl Streep in 'The Iron Lady' was last year.

I am definately not gonna skip this movie, even if it gets below 2 star ratings by critics.

Trailer : Lunchbox

Superb trailer. The tagline 'Can you fall in love with someone you haven't met' reminded of Sirf Tum. But this one looks more mature, upto the point without melodrama and the means through Lunchbox makes it very different. I am keen to watch what happens when Irrfan and Nimrat meet.

Nawazuddin appears to be in a supporting role this time.  Seems to be another Irrfan performance that I may love. Love that scene where he wonders what to do with the letter Nawazuddin finds in lunchbox and then in end he puts it in his pocket..

Hope the film lives upto the standard of this trailer. But for a change english dialogues didn't turn me off in a indian movie.

Teaser : Boss

Poster gave me bad feeling, same happens with this teaser. Khiladi 786 Part2, lets see if the trailer changes my opinion. For the moment, it looks like another over the top action-comedy movie of Akshay Kumar. Not my type.

Trailer : Ramaiya Vastavaiya

Not interesting trailer at all. Shruti Hassan looks so beautiful, but very much like Sonam Kapoor a non-actor. The new actor Girish Taurani appears decent from trailer. Sonu Sood could provide much needed great acting to the movie. The story reminds me very much of 'Pyar Kiya toh Darna kya', though its a remake of a south movie.

For now, the atif aslam songs only thing that I am waiting for specially the one that the trailer ends on.

Trailer : Raanjhanaa

Maybe its becoming a routine to dislike anything that has Sonam Kapoor as major part. Though luckily here she gets only 2 dialogues in the whole trailer. Other thing that didn't work was male lead Dhanush, who didn't look convincing enough. Its his friend (don't know who's the actor who plays it) in the movie, who made me laugh with his dialogues. How to patofy girl, style of shahrukh and vinod mehra, probably the only best scene in the trailer.

Even A R Rahman looked out of touch, but expecting the album to be better. Abhay Deol appeared to be in Chakravyuh mode.

After all this, I still feel there might be a likeability towards the movie for me, whether it turns true or not .. will know on 21st June.

Trailer : Ghanchakkar

Raj Kumar Gupta's first two movies were serious ones but they did show his capability to film entertaining scene when the situation aint favourable for it. This time, its a total fun ride and how good he has done from the looks of trailer.

Emraan Hashmi could have pulled off one of his memorable roles pretty much like Shanghai here. Vidya Balan loooking super naughty and typical punjabi with those dialogues.  Rajesh and Namit also in supporting roles would be great to watch.

That Kulfi scene was hillarious, also the choice of actors on 3 masks. And the Ghajini dialogue.

Amit Trivedi's music would appeal to me or not is a question. I found the song with the trailer good but audio wise not special. Last time around he and Raj Kumar Gupta gave me NOKJ, his 2nd best soundtrack till date. Hoping he repeats that this time too.
