Some very good albums came this year, some memorable songs, some forgettable ones, but most of the music lived upto its mark and some path-breaking music too came out. In comparison to last year, 2011 was just slightly on low side. Here is my list of Top10 albums of the year :

1. Rockstar

A R Rahman had to silent his critics, although he was giving good albums, yet that magic of Delhi6.. his last terrific album was missing. But Rockstar easily overhauls Delhi6. Also, he experiments with Mohit as the voice of Jordan giving him 9 songs in the album. Yet, all the songs work out so well, without giving any feel of repeativity or boredom. 'Sadda Haq, Jo bhi main, Tum ho and Naadaan Parindey' remains my top 4 songs from the album. While Dichotomy of fame, the best theme out of the three.

2. Saat Khoon Maaf

Bekaaran was the only song that I couldn't connect to. Loved all other songs, Vishal did a superb work in the O mama song, what madness that track has just like Dhan te nan. While, also the album made a sort of comeback for Usha Uthup with 'Darling' and how well she sang it. But, my favourite song remains 'Awaara' by Master Saleem, lots of emotions in that song. And it is the fav song of Vishal Bharadwaj too. So, our opinions matches here.

3. Ra.One

Chammak Challo was one of the best dance track of the year, with the voice of Akon. Raftaarein having that feel of rd burman song, sort of tribute it was. While, Bhare Naina was the under-rated track from the film. Criminal was yet again very good composition. Dildaara took time for me before I liked it. Vishal-Shekhar had a complete winner in hands.

4. Delhi Belly

Though Ram Sampath gave good music in his debut album 'Love ka the end', its Delhi Belly where he got fully noticed with some path-breaking songs in the entire album, very different from each other.. yet having that comic theme in common. Dk bose the best of all, my personal fav too. Also, nakkadwale disco was good innovation in different kind of qawaali. Switty had the hip-hop feel while Jaa chudail a funny angst song. Saigal blues and tere siva, the under-rated songs.. I specially liked saigal blues song, the one with which film begins. Ram Sampath, could be someone to rely on in future if he gives such good music consistently.

5. Haunted

Chirantan Bhatt's best album till date. Also, I like his voice, both jaaniya and mujhe de de har gham tera, had that pain the songs needed to have, and no doubt compositions were good too. Tera hi bas hona chahoon, a song I love a lot now. But, the best track of album was 'Sau baras gujre bin jiye' by tia bajpai.. her first ever song and I fell in love with it only after initially disliking the song terming it 'bahut slow hai'. And the famous song, kay kay's Tum ho mera pyar.. which was good yet not as addictive as other songs were in the album for me.

6. Murder2

Just as they did in Raaz-tmc, multiple composers were used in this soundtrack too. Mithoon's both songs 'Aye khuda' and 'Phir mohabbat' were the best of the album. I love his songs, he was slightly on the down side with Lamhaa album track, but here, he was at his best in both the songs. It was almost tough to even choose my fav among both. While Aa zara I love for its composition and sunidhi chauhan's brilliant rendition.

7. Yeh Saali Zindagi

Nishat Khan's first album, and quite a good one it was. Dil ba dar was a magical song, both audio and in the visuals too, Shilpa rao sang it superbly well with Javed ali rendition of the word 'dar ba dar, dil dar dar' enhancing the feel of song. Also, sunidhi's title version was good one. Loved sa ra ra, javed's version.. so much full of energy and a positive vibe it brings. I didn't like male version. While ishq tere jalwe was a nice track too.

8. Mausam

Pritam gave many good albums in the year, but this one was his best, the songs were rich in quality. Shahid Mallya got introduced with song 'Rabba main toh mar gaya', which was very famous. Mika sang saj dhaj ke which resembled bhootni ke, yet was very entertaining. Hans Raj Hans made a comeback of sorts with Ek tu hi, I liked the song a lot.. wish the emotional impact was higher in the film. And my personal fav song of the album 'Mallo Malli' by Tochi Raina, really awesome tunes used.

9. Shaitan

The reason album worked for me, was that I could feel something fresh and different in this music of Prashant Pillai and co. Some good tunes, high beats in some songs, and compositions that appeal and yet sound so different, and new. Pintya and Zindagi were my personal favs, while Fareeda was under achieved song in my view. Nasha was the famous one, which masses or youth liked the most. Even O Yaara is nice. While, Bali (sound of shaitan) was the best theme among all.

10. Mere Brother ki Dulhan

Sohail Sen delivers a great album once again after 'What's your Rashee', their work in Khelin hum jee jaan sey was commedable too. But Mere brother ki dulhan brings them back to the music which masses love. Dhunki and title song are total dance numbers, sung by neha bhasin and kay kay respectively. Do Dhaari talwaar less popular song of album, and is one of my most favs.. its sung by shahid mallya who sang rabba song in Mausam. Choomantar and Ishq risk are the best songs of the album, the former for its composition while the latter for the romantic feel and rahat's voice.

Don2, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Love Breakups Zindagi and Love ka the End miss out.
