Poor movie that tries to preach a message into your head.

When I saw Dabangg2, I thought Arbaaz Khan is a poor director… but now I feel he wasn't that bad in comparison to Sohail Khan who has made a complete crap movie that tries to use the 'Salman' stardom to control the entire meaningless movie.

The story deals with Jai (Salman Khan), an ex army officer who now tries to help aam people whenever he gets a opportunity and he starts a chain of 'help someone and ask them to help 3 other people'. And there's lot of action plus romance while all this happens.

As you can see, there is no storyline. Infact the start of movie is with a over the top mother-daughter conversation with gundas that is leading to a expected slow motion entry scene of Salman Khan. And the 1st action scene is very weakly directed too.

There are two major problems in movie, one is there is just no fucking narration of story happening, a scene starts out of no where, ends suddenly, songs come in for no reason and then there are heavy dialoguebaazi. The other irritating problem is 'aap thank you mat kaho, instead teen logo ki help karo', this theme of film through this dialogue is repeated 15-20 times through various characters in the movie, and you wonder that even aam janta would say 'bhai, itni bhi spoon-feeding nahi chahiye, tum toh humhe bilkul gaye gujre samajte ho'. Even censors should come up with cuts over such scenes in movie stating its a mental torture to include them in movie.

The romantic angle between Jai and Pinky (played by Daisy Shah, did they actually show her real name, I can't remember.. but this name comes out of a funny scene) is done and dusted numerous times to make any kind of impact at all, plus Sohail failed in this simple plot too, at least could had been convincing here. You would see one of worst directed army sequence ever too, in one of flashback scene of movie.

Why did Genelia do such a role, just to get a film with Salman ? Can't understand at all.

There's long list of supporting cast, Ashmit Patel, Nadira Babbar, Sunil Shetty, Mahesh Manjerekar,  Yash Tonk, Sana Khan, Aditya Pancholi, Pulkit Samrat, Vatsal Seth, Sharad Kapoor… and expectedly, none of them had a good enough role. Mohnish Behl has a nice small cameo though.

The kid who plays son of Tabu, was one of best things in movie, for all humor he provides.

Danny Denzongpa who plays villain, is part of a very good scene of the movie, where Geeta (Tabu, Jai's sister) takes Jai to end all the problems.

The bike chase sequence was another of good scene in the movie.  The action scenes disappoint, one laughable scene where hundreds of goondas with knifes in hand run away from Jai who growls like a tiger (too much of Aamir inspiration from Ghajini by Sohail). Only the last climax action scene was well filmed.

Not a single song is worth listening, except for 'apna kaam banta' which is good only due to lyrics. Most of the songs are plain loud, or dull romantic numbers.

If Sohail wanted to make a message oriented movie like this one, he should have involved more of aam janta scenes, probably more role of Majesh Manjerakar or the alcoholic one. Keeping handicapped people was stupid way of getting sympathy and nothing else.

He could had cut out few songs, few un-necessary comedy and added some worthy scenes that compliment the 3 people chain theme. Instead Sohail wanted too much, and ends up giving audience next to nothing.

Among performances, Salman Khan is good where he tries to help people or fight for a cause, in rest movie he is pretty okay as one has seen him in that avatar a lot in past many movies. A good director would had taken out much more from his character.

Daisy dances really well, but acting looks okish. A full fledged role would be better to make judgement over her acting, she is very much sidelined and limited to either comedy scenes or some songs.

Tabu does good, but one feels for an actress of her caliber this is a wrong film to be part of.

Overall, Jai Ho is a movie that mostly irritates, yes its made with good intentions to provide a message, but you should know how to give that message.  To rub salt into the wound, the movie fails to entertain too. I would recommend you to watch the movie in a single screen theatre or place where its house full and full of salman fans, at least their loud cheers and whistles will make you feel not bored during the movie.

Verdict : 1/5
