Trailer : Kick

When I read the story of original Telugu movie, it immediately gave me a kick that this film could/would be the Salman movie to look out for. And the trailer for now has kept that feeling alive.

Its funny that some people call this movie as Salman’s superhero movie, anything to bash him. When I saw the 1st poster of mask, I immediately understood its gonna be worn by him when he plays the character ‘Devil’ and not for some superhero powers.

Aap Devil ke peeche, Devil aapke peeche.. Too much Fun. Salman’s first dialogue in the trailer introducing his character, one without french beard and other with it where he is ‘Devil’. Some good stunt scenes with cycle specially that train one (yes its over the top but lovely to watch for me).

The low point of trailer comes when Jacqueline-Salman love plot is revealed. I personally adore Jacqueline, near to having crush I would say, but the overdose of ‘Kick’ word in dialogues reminded me of Imran Khan’s Luck. Remember how much irritating it was when they kept using Luck in every dialogue of 1st half. I hope this aint case in the film.

Also, how much have they retained the original story, and how much changed it.. would be thing to see. I haven’t seen the original one, but to be frank I would like not too many changes in the plot.

Jacqueline’s dance moves in trailer are impressive, specially the one in red outfit.

The other worrying factor for me is music, as its by Mr Himesh Reshammiya whose songs have stopped clicking with me since he started to act.  Could this be the film where his music finally appeals ? Hope so.

Paida toh main bhi shareef hua tha, par sharafat se apni kabhi nahi bana. Nawazuddin in a negative role is another aspect I am keen to watch, one of actors that has been on the rise in last 2 years with his performances. Love that moment where he shares screen with Salman at 1:44. I hope there will be lot more scenes between them in movie, would be a delight.

The main highlight once again is the dialogue writing by Rajat Arora, I personally loved all his dialogues in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobara’ (even though I didn’t put him in my top5 of best performances of year blog, he was close to it).  How about ending with that ‘Eid aa rahi hai, aur woh apni eidi lene zaroor aayega’ dialogue.. Simply Fantastic.

Fingers Crossed, could be the next masala movie after Dhoom3 that I could madly love, and its been a long gap since I loved a Salman movie completely (Dabangg was last).

Mere baare mein itna mat sochna, dil mein aata hoon…. samajh mein nahi.

Movie Analysis : How to Train Your Dragon 2

Directed by : Dean Deblois
Imdb link -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1646971/

Not seen the 1st part.. but very much understood most of the film. The plot revolves around Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) who would be the next chief of the Berk Island, as told to him by his father Stoick (Gerarld Butler). But Hiccup prefers adventures with his dragon Toothless, to discover new worlds. And he ends up reaching a secret  ice cave which is home to hundreds of new wild dragons, and a mysterious Dragon Rider, Valka  (Cate Blanchett). They both must now stand up and keep the island peaceful, as the threat of Drago (Djimon Hounsou) looms large on them who wants to capture and  control all the dragons.

Unlike the animation movies I have seen before, this one is comical but more dramatic and emotional. Frozen probably was the last one that was more or less on same lines on the emotion level.

Some excellent visuals, be it the initial dragon race or the journey of Hiccup-Toothless in the skies, or the new world of dragons Hiccup discovers, or the fight against Drago.

Love the scene between Stoick and Valka, and the past story narrated by Valka. Hiccup and his girlfriend Astrid (America Ferrera) give some cute moments, and also special mention to Ruffnut (Kristen Wiig) who is blindly attracted to a guy they meet on the ice cave, and her comments make you laugh a lot.

How to train your dragon 2 is a good watch if you like animation movies and not prefer a total comical movie.  The key part that you love, is the relation Valka and Toothless shares with Hiccup.

Movie Analysis : The World Before Her

Directed by : Nisha Pahuja
Imdb link -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2258685/

A documentary movie that deals with two woman showcasing two different India’s to us.  One, Ruhi Singh, is a contestant at a beauty pageant trying to win Miss India 2011 contest. While other, Prachi Trivedi, works at Durga Vahini camp, training girls of 15-23 age, a Hindu nationalist group exclusively for women.  They both share their views about Indian culture, the place they are at, their dreams, their beliefs and the life they have lived.

Before the beauty pageant contest, all 20 contestants go through a 30 day beauty boot camp. Here, we get to see how in their attempt to achieve fame, many small town girls come and are willing to do whatever they are asked for, like the botox cosmetic surgery where the woman almost forces for changes in her look of face against the will of girl, then the skin whitening treatments, and in one of event the girls are covered from head to  middle so that only their legs are visible to get judged.  One of the girl says, that she doesn’t like all this, and at times she thinks about Indian culture but then she doesn’t have a choice if she has to get fame. The owner of the pageant herself calls the camp as factory, the girls are looked as objects (like the bikini round).  Now the girls who pass and win, see the bright light with becoming successful models and even a chance to enter Bollywood. But the cost at which they do so, is that right ? That is the question raised.

In the camp of Durga Vahini, you feel even more saddened when you see young girls being brainwashed against western culture and the will to make the country fully Hindu with hatred for Muslims and Christians. When one of the young girl part of camp is interviewed, she says with pride that she doesn’t have Muslim friends and is happy about it. You can clearly see the influence of the camp on her mind.  One is willing to kill other people if a need arises.

Prachi Trivedi looks very vulnerable at many places, and it appears the life she lived under her father who with a smile admits how he punished her in 5th standard (if i remember it right) with a iron rod on her foot, probably the anger she has hidden in herself comes out at the camp while training girls.  She has a strong belief that her principles are right, and also she doesn’t go against her father because of only one reason that he at her birth allowed her to live and not kill her.

She herself isn’t willing to get married or produce children, but at one event of camp its told girls should get married at a very young age (i think they said 18), and the other alternative for kitchen work given at camp is gun rifle training. When asked about isn’t it more like being terrorist, Prachi says we don’t make bombs or keep AK47 or even ever used sulphuric acid, how can we be terrorists then.  At the camp they are taught to become strong and protect themselves, and in a event a lady tells them that women will always be weak, such contradicting statements.

There are some disturbing pics shown of girls getting beaten by Hindu Nationalists when seen with a guy or at a bar.

There’s one hard hitting moment when Pooja Chopra’s mother shares her birth story when her father wanted a boy, and how nervous she felt when she found its a girl. Her mother was told, either send Pooja to orphanage, or kill her, and she almost breaks down telling this. And how happy and proud she felt when Pooja won the contest.

Also, the supportive parents of Ruhi who like watching their girl in front page of bombay times and then glued to tv screens to see her win, the disappoint on their face when she doesn’t.

The way Prachi looks at the ongoing telecast of Miss India 2011 on her tv, it made me think in two ways, one was she felt in another life she would had been participant in that contest too, and another was she was watching it with total anger thinking how badly these girls are destroying indian culture getting influenced with western, just as her father states at that time.  Another way of looking at it is… why are Prachi and her father watching the contest if they so much hate it.

The best thing about this documentary is, it never takes sides and always has a non-judgmental tone. We can make our choices, which one do we support and to be frank there’s more of negative in both stories. Infact the way narration is done, there are places where you can draw parallels to both world’s. Only positives I see are, in beauty contest, the girls have a chance to get famous and get fame, plus successful life. While at Durga vahini camp, girls learn self protection, and could live a life without feeling scared of any person.

Though, the women of India aren’t limited to these two world’s shown in the movie, and I feel most would be happy not to be part of any of these.

Nonetheless, a very well made documentary, which showcased two India’s, I aint much aware of.  Very deeply moving, shakes you at many moments and thought provoking when you come out of theatre.

Movie Analysis : Filmistaan

Directed by : Nitin Kakkar
Imdb link -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2417560/

A wanna-be actor Sunny (Sharib Hashmi), works as an A.D and dreams of becoming the next big star. He goes to Rajasthan with an american crew to work on a documentary. One day an Islamic terrorist group mistakenly kidnaps Sunny instead of the american crew, and brings him to Pakistan. They keep him as hostage until they could locate the american crew. Sunny is put at a house which belongs to a Pakistani Aftaab (Inaamul Haq), who is in business of hindi films piracy and always brings  plenty of cds while returning back from border, that he shows his villagers to watch. Sunny and Aftaab instantly share a bond with the common interest of cinema, but will this bond be strong enough to cope with the terrorist who is always guarding Sunny from escaping.

In the 1st half, we see Sunny speaking plenty of bollywood dialogues, mimicry, he’s like a chalta phirta cinema radio who can use a filmi dialogue in even a serious situation, like the ‘mard ko kabhi dard nahi hota’ or he trying to teach kids how actors would shoot a gun differently using the gun of terrorist.  Sunny is very over the top, so you could easily understand why he fails to make any of the auditions, and in one very good scene he himself tells Aftaab about how he thinks about his acting skills. But, its his friendly and always trying to be happy avatar that impresses you.

One of the most funniest scene of movie comes when Sunny directs the recording of his kidnapping himself and goes for plenty of re-takes as he believes no matter what you are filming, the quality should never be compromised, hilarious sequence it is.

Then there’s Aftaab, who the moment he comes to know that Sunny is into cinema, he tries to interact with him and they share a long conversation about films, how cinema connects two people irrespective of the countries they belong to.

Love the scene where Sunny badly wants to see Maine Pyar Kiya requesting the terrorist leader Mahmood (Kumud Mishra) to let him come outside and watch along with villages, who ignores him as a result Sunny starts mouthing all the dialogues inside his room.  And then the problem in sound of pirated cd resulting in Sunny giving voice over the Salman’s dialogues.

The final 20-25 mins was the weak link of movie, as the film heads towards a similar cliched political climax, there was a scope of innovative writing there. Also, except for Udaari (only to some extent), the songs are not worth remembering when you leave the theatre.

Performances wise, Sharib Hashmi is exceptional in his comic timing, its a role tailor-made for him. After doing good work as supporting role in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, its a good follow up for him to play a lead and get noticed much more. There are few emotional scenes in movie where he doesn’t falter either, which makes me interested to see how he would do in future films where he doesn’t play a comic character.

Inaamul Haq also was fantastic in playing the Pakistani character who loves Indian movies. He played more of a cinema lover who isn’t over the top or way too filmi in his interactions. Loved the bonding he had with Sharib in the movie. No wonder the final clippings we see is a recap of that.

Its hard to identify Kumud Mishra in the get up (Khatana of Rockstar), not a likable character by any imagination, and what I liked was the ‘no change of heart’ at all as the story develops which usually happens in our movies.

Overall, Filmistaan is worth a watch for the two great performances, excellent humor in 1st half and the bonding of two cinema lovers from India and Pakistan. If it didn’t falter in the climax, it would had been a terrific movie.

Movie Analysis : Holiday

Directed by : A.R. Murugadoss
Imdb link -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2556308/

Read at ur own risk, spoilers ahead…

Murugadoss last movie which was his 1st in hindi industry, was Ghajini in 2008, a gem that I enjoy watching till date. With Holiday, he slightly falters on the romantic plot which was his strength in Ghajini, but the action and thrill is upto the standard he had set then.

Captain Virat Bakshi (Akshay Kumar), an army man returns to Mumbai for a holiday with his family. His dad is eager to get him married to Sahiba (Sonakshi Sinha), and then starts a yes/no game between Virat and Sahiba before both eventually falling in love. In a casual pocket-cut inside bus, Virat and his friend in police Mukund (Sumeet Raghavan) catch a terrorist who accidentally blasts the bus and many innocent people including kids get killed. Virat now has to find out what that terrorist was upto, who is the head and how many more blasts were planned.

When Akshay does intense scenes that includes action, he has always looked terrific. And the action I am talking here is fast, and not the usual Hindi slow motion action. Kudos to the hollywood action director Greg Powell. There are two great long sequences in the movie, one where Virat has to stop 12 blasts from happening in Mumbai, and its a skillfully directed and edited scene. And the other when Virat has to avoid his sister and girls of other military officers from getting killed. While the former is more about mind execution, the latter is the raw action of Virat (and how much I love Akshay doing that).

Also, mention to the finale where Virat finally fights one to one with the head of sleeper cells, Farhad (Freddy Daruwala), a worthy scene slightly spoiled by the character who challenges Farhad and later says kill both. Love the dialogue at the end of scene ‘tu suspense mein hi marr’.

Songs are forcefully used in the movie, I would had taken both Shayraana and that pub song out of the movie, and also used Ashq na ho as end credits song just to lower the effect of song which I found very manipulative. Music wise, no chartbuster song.

What lets this movie down unfortunately is the love angle of Virat and Sahiba, which ends up as a break away from main proceedings of the plot and not having any effect. Had the writer interlinked Farhad revenge with Sahiba in some kinda of way, it would had been much better instead of plain disco or imaginary romantic scenes they have.  There are some funny moments with Virat and Sahiba no doubt, but they are at the expense of losing track of main plot. Even Govinda is badly used for a 2 scene cameo.

Sumeet Raghavan does very good work as supporting character. While Freddy Daruwala has good screen presence, but can’t say the same about his acting.. I read someone’s review saying Vidyut Jamwal would had been ideal choice to play the role, and I would agree with it. But, I love the intermission scene where he talks for the first time and the reply he gets from Akshay Kumar.

Among the leads, Akshay is terrific, should do more movies like these where intense acting overtakes the comedy and romance.  Sonakshi is good but then its a repetitive character which I am tired of watching her do, and her line of next movies says nothing will change, so I can’t praise her much for the moment until she has a change of brain.

Holiday may not be as good as Ghajini was, but the director does show that he can make good commercial entertainer movies which are much smarter and has meaningful action scenes with few cinematic liberties taken very well. Hope in future he doesn’t include romantic plot as a mere addition to the film.

Movie Analysis : Edge of Tomorrow

Directed by : Doug Liman
Imdb link -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1631867/

Read at ur own risk, spoilers ahead...

Major Wiliam Cage (Tom Cruise) who hasn’t been in a combat is suddenly forced to fight an alien race that looks more of a suicide mission for him. As a result he dies, but before dying the mimic’s blood enters inside his body causing a time loop that makes Cage reset day again and again thereby making him fight the same combat battle numerous times. The only person who understand what Cage is going through is Rita (Emily Blunt) who is a famous Special Forces warrior and had the same power Cage has now during Verdun war. Now she has to help Cage, and win this battle against aliens by training him.

The movie was like a tough video game for me. There are different levels, you die just when you are near to complete 1st one, you play again and go little far before failing again. Then you change the way you play, and come closer to completion. Finally after numerous attempts, you reach next level only to find new twists making you play earlier level differently again. Thats how this movie goes, and a reason why its enjoyable to watch Cage work hard every time he dies to succeed in the battle at beach, plus he has unlimited lives to try it again and again until Omega (the thing that needs to be destroyed to win over alien like mimics) finds him.

There are plenty of twists and turns during every attempt of Cage after dying. His first try is more of a eye-witness to observe everything, not because he knows at that time that he will be present here again later but because he isn’t battle trained to fight.

The odd occasions when he dies in weirdest ways, like the roll over on van just to get other side of camp and meet Rita, was one of funniest scene. Or when Cage tries to tell Master Sergeant Farell (Bill Paxton) that he has lived this day before and knows what will happen next, and Sergeant ignores him only to continue preaching his regular speech to him. Bill Paxton gives a very humorous touch in the way he delivers those dialogues and not believe in Cage. Quite similar to the scenes between Cage and General Brigham (Brendan Gleeson), where General at first forcefully sends Cage to battlefield, and then later on is way too stubborn to help Cage and Rita.

Its not just the repeat of scenes that are enjoyable, where we see Cage struggle to reach one step further in the battle. But also, how he changes the way he plays the day again, like ignoring his fellow j squad in battle, and then even ignoring Rita to reach further. Another funniest scene comes when Cage and Rita succeed in getting important material that would let Cage find where Omega  is, Rita asks Cage ‘Now what next ?’ and Cage replies ‘I don’t know, we never reached this far’.

The level of unpredictability is so high in the film, that in the finale we see Cage and Rita fight alpha and mimics in Paris where Omega is, and this time they have only one chance as Cage hasn’t lived this day before.

Its the great plot and how wonderfully its edited that makes the movie so enjoyable, even with the number of same scene repetition you don’t get the bored feeling, thanx to either the turn of events or the angle with which the scene is shown.

The only thing that I disliked was the alphas and mimics looks, they had a very unlikable look and thereby not really pleasing to see.

The ending is different, its hard to say if Omega gets fully destroyed or not with those blood going inside Cage’s body before he wakes up.

Tom Cruise is in wonderful form, and its only final 30 mins where we see the routine of him, as the earlier part is the person who is not well equipped to handle tough situations. And he shines playing both very well. Emily Blunt also has a very good role and not limited to just being a part of Tom Cruise movie, infact she is the scene stealer at many places, specially when she is training Cage. Also, the romantic emotional bond the director is able to build between them in this action movie is commendable, as it comes out nicely.

Edge of Tomorrow is a enjoyable sci-fi action movie, with plenty of twists and turns, it keeps you guessing and good performances from the lead makes it a very good watch.

Missed Reviews - Hollywood : Jan-May

Few lines on all the Hollywood movies I have seen this year and not written full review on them…

American Hustle :

Average plot, but the insane behavior of the characters makes this a very interesting watch. When you see actors like Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jenniffer Lawrence doing unusual things, you can’t stop but admiring it. The first scene itself sets it up, it tells how much mad characters would be as Bale is seen cutting his hairs on head and sticking with gum to form a better hairstyle, and also tells the pace of movie would be on the slower side. There is Jenniffer as wife of Bale, who cracks up in every scene she gets, and that dance she does in final moments of movie. Bradley’s temptation to resist not making out with Amy, and the con games both Amy and Bale play. Jeremy Renner plays the only supporting character who behaves much normal, and probably a reason why you feel bad for him and his friendship with Bale that falls. I can see this movie again and again for all this ensemble cast, and if you are into insane (not as much Pulp Fiction), then you may not regret watching this movie either.
Verdict : 4/5

12 Years a Slave :

Very tough movie to watch, for all the torture the characters go through specially Solomon (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor). I felt there should had been more scenes of Solomon with the 2nd master he served for, probably because he was the nicest of all three. Also, the torture given to the woman by the 3rd master was the hardest to watch, almost made me regret watching movie, plus it shifted the focus slightly away from Solomon which I didnt like. The final scene when Solomon returns back, was quite a emotional one, also all the moments where he was close to giving up but he didn’t, the scene where he tells another slave that this he doesn’t want to survive, he wants to live. Clearly, the director wants the audience to feel the torture this free black man and many others go through after being kidnapped and becoming slaves. He hardly gives you scenes to have  breather, the torture gets gruesome scene by scene. Could had shown flashbacks of his old life bit more, when he was happy with his family, also the search going on by them to find him, just to add drama and give slight relief from torture sequences. Its still a good one time watch for Solomon’s performance and the direction of Steve McQueen
Verdict : 3/5

Her :

Theodore (played by Joaquin Phoenix) is a lonely man, in final stages of his divorce and not quite able to come out of it. He buys a new artificial intelligent operating system which has a female voice by Scarlett Johansson. When was the last time that you don’t see a character in entire movie, only her voice and yet how much you adore and love her. Samantha is funny, sexy, teasing, seduces and despite being a operating system gives hope and company to Theodore, who eventually falls in love. What’s great is the concept of Samantha isn’t limited to just being a operating system becoming aid for Theodre to see his mistakes regarding ex-wife or view life in different manner, but Samantha herself explores various traits of humans that develops her emotions and feelings. She is more or less a human who isn’t visible. The end is kinda of heart-breaking but it serves purpose of knowing how to love. Special mention to that funny game sequence once with Theodore, and then later when his friend is working on one. Great performance by Joaquin Phoenix, and the writing of movie is pretty strong with some very romantic moments.
Verdict : 4.5/5

The Monuments Men :

Easily my biggest disappointment of the year so far after ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. The pace was so fucking slow, and it didn’t appear like they wanted to come to the point. Even actors like George Clooney and Matt Damon get hardly 1-2 scenes to shine. The story of a group of soldiers tasked to find and preserve the art stolen and hidden by the Nazis during World War II was pretty interesting and I thought it would make for a interesting watch. But a very weak script and screenplay going nowhere makes you leave the theatre with a sad face, you hardly take back anything from this film. Easily a film you can skip watching.
Verdict : 1.5/5

Noah :

What I really liked in the film was the special effects and the cinematography for some awesome visuals. And thats it, the movie was a total bore for me with Russell Crowe specially getting on my nerves, seems he’s not doing great roles at all, last time he irritated me in Man of the Steel too. Only reason why I went to see film was Ema Watson, and she didn’t disappoint me.
Verdict : 1/5

Captain America : The Winter Soldier :

After Thor, he’s the next avenger that I find very boring. Not seen previous parts, yet the trailer had me interested and the film exceeded all the expectations. Whats great is that they make Nick Fury (played by Sameul Jackson) so vulnerable, and then Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) isn’t sure what makes him happy with his ongoing issues with Nick and Shield, and there’s a new enemy he is about to witness, Bucky (Sebastian Stan) who is fast and more powerful than him, and his old best friend. All this makes for a compelling drama, with Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) providing lots of laugh out moments. The action is not typical superhero types, instead we see how tough Steve finds to get better of Bucky or even the 1st action scene. Also, excellent performance by Robert Redford. Easily a movie that entertains to the core, and even its end credits scenes don’t disappoint either.
Verdict : 4/5

The Amazing Spiderman 2 :

I am happy that I saw all 3 parts of  Tobey Maguire version of Spiderman  before watching this one. Still Andrew Garfield would be the actor I would prefer playing Spiderman but in those older versions where story dominated even if the effects were not as good as these new movies have. Problem with Amazing Spiderman 2 is that it tries to be way quick, there’s lot of witty dialogues, then there’s Electro (played by Jamie Foxx) who doest get one great scene, and then other villain Harry (played by Dane DeHaan)whose plot is totally spoiled and his actions appear so out of context. The only place this film goes right is the love track of Peter (played by Andrew Garfield) and Gwen (played by Emma Stone), and even in it they had to make Gwen die which was unexpected but then its my heart which has a crush on her saying this, from film’s point its acceptable. Dane DeHaan has one lovely scene where he enters his office with Electro and has that evil look on his face, and somehow there he resembled a lot with the younger Leonardo di caprio. Another good scene I can recall is the final speech of Gwen that Peter listens to during pre-climax scene. The film looked like an attempt to get as many villains as they can to make Spiderman fight, but they needed to give a solid story also with it to make it look convincing. Even the link to his father secret looked silly and useless. I would prefer the 1st part over this one, that was slow but at least it had a proper story to it.
Verdict : 2/5

Million Dollar Arm :

A sports agent JB (played by John Hamm) decides to find indian cricket players whom he could train as pro baseball players in US. His discoveries are Rinku (played by Suraj Sharma) and Dinesh (played by Madhur Mittal), and he brings Amit (played by Pitobash) also with them who would help them with english/hindi translation. Upto this point the movie is good and enjoyable, once they reach US, the movie slips into regular drama and a very predictable climax. Even Rahman’s music doesn’t give any special feel to the movie. Plus, I don’t understand why montage of India has to have classical music and lots of poor india images in it, can’t we get out of this stereotype. Performances wise I liked Pitobash a lot, specially that small motivation speech he gives at the end. Also, the funny style of pitching by Suraj Sharma and that guy who would assist JB during India tour and sleep all the time. Decent one time watch movie.
Verdict : 2.5/5

Godzilla :

How badly I was waiting for this movie, and had this movie been bad, it would had hurt a hell lot. It was simply outstanding movie, when the opening credits start with that background score I knew this is gonna be epic. If you are looking for Godzilla to be shown after every fucking 5-10 mins, then I guess this ain’t a movie for you. But if you are fine with Godzilla shown properly just 3-4 times in whole movie, then you would enjoy this ride a lot like me. Infact I felt the decision to not show Godzilla fight the Muto’s initially to audience was a great idea too, that actually made the final fight scene totally worth it. And boy, that roar of Godzilla gave me goosebumps. Only weak link in the movie was the lack of emotional connect with Ford (played by Aaron Taylor Johnson) and Elle (Elizabeth Olsen). The director covered Ford’s father and mother back story very well, or be the father-son relation too was handled well. Other thing that bothered me was the way tsunami scene is handled, the people running looked way too fake, never appeared like they are in fear of death with the speed with which they ran. Like the way Dr Ishiro (played by Ken Watanabe) announces the arrival of Godzilla, his keenness to be present to see the 1st sight of him, and then his comparison of Nature to Humans. And special mention to the background score, major highlight of the movie that made it look that good. Love the nervousness during that train sequence, and my fav scene is of course the build up to Godzilla’s 1st appearance with lots of parallel cuts. Can’t wait to buy its DVD and hear Godzilla roaring loud on my computer. Phew.
Verdict : 4.5/5

X-Men : Days of Future Past :

First film in this series that I have seen, and I didn’t really felt hooked to it. Also, some connectivity to past films didn’t help, but mainly it was the concept that didn’t interest me much. That QuickSilver (played by Evan Peters) slow motion scene with the background song was my best moment from the movie. Jenniffer Lawrence also failed to make any mark. Hugh Jackman (as Logan) was great and witty, as long as he didn’t let Wolverine enter. James McAvoy (as Charles) was good in supporting role, liked the scene where Logan asks him to enter his mind and give him hope. I doubt watching old films would make any difference to my liking either.
Verdict : 2/5

Blended :

Decent time pass movie, with some good laughs. The final few moments of the movie gets too dramatic to my liking, and there are places where the gags don’t work. Liked Drew Barrymore most, and that cutest little girl of Jim (played by Adam Sandler). Story wise, nothing new or special. Special mention to those band of guys leader who pops up everywhere to sing ‘Blended’ and stuff, too hilarious he was.
Verdict : 2.5/5
