Film Review : All The Best

Had no expectations at all, thought that will have few laughs at most, nothing else. But it ended to be such a good film.

Almost every character has got their good scenes in the film, though its Sanjay Dutt all throughout and ofcourse the execution of the story by Rohit.

Climax though could had been little better but still much better than the madness stretched routine in recent comedies.

Story is about Prem(Ajay) who keeps giving ideas after ideas of lies to Veer(Fardeen) who has been lieing to his brother Dharam(Sanjay) about his marriage with Vidya(Mughda) and to manage one lie, how he constructs a chain of lies which results in many mad comedy scenes.

Performance wise,

Sanjay Dutt looked in awesome form, some of his punchlines specially the one "comedy toh maine abhi se shuru kiya hai, lekin action toh main 30 saal se karta aa raha hoon" ..

Ajay Devgan was good, though at times he was loud but those were few scenes in number.

Fardeen Khan does the usual stuff, neck rotate and karo comedy. Overall, he was nice at best.

Mugdha Godse was impressive in her first try at comedy, though she has small role.

Bipasha Basu in start looked odd doing comedy but as the film went on, she came into her own and did quite well.

Ashwani Kalsekar, whole time i was thinking where have i seen her, now i remember it she was superb in that dialect.

Asrani and Mukesh Tiwari were fine.

Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra were very impressive. Dhondu just chill

Atul Parchure also had his share of moments in a small role.

Direction was very good by Rohit Shetty, some cinematic liberties are used to show various styles like the car rotate during red rose or the engine thing or the action scenes.

Screenplay was very good, they created so many comedy situations which doesnt make you just laugh but laugh madly. Thats the biggest positive sign for a comedy film.

Songs are good, specially martaba and one sad number that comes later in the film. All the best title is fine while the band performance goes well with the film. Overall, music doesnt bore during the film, though nothing special in it either.

The main usp of the film has to be ajay-sanjay scenes(specially that door one, that was too hillarious), the just chill act and the maid role. Also, the chura liya hai part with johny.

Overall, All the best surprises you and makes you like it a lot when you leave the theatres.

Film Review : Acid Factory

Acid Factory worked a lot for me mainly for the story and the narration style.

Its about 6 people who are trapped in a acid factory who have temporary memory loss due to pentane acid cylinder leakage and have forgotten their identities. Two of them are kidnappers and two were supposed to die. But no one knows who were the kidnappers and who were the people who kidnapped and who were the rest two people. The mastermind behind all this is by keizer (irfan khan).

1st half deals mainly with how they try to use permutations n combinations to get their real names, keeping a check on each other if they are lying or not at same time.

2nd half becomes more interesting though the climax doesnt fully impress, mainly for the way they show keizer in the entire film, the end seemed bit stranger for him.

Another thing is that they never show when Romeo(fardeen) gets his memory back, though thats not required either.

The narration style was excellent, with the 5 weeks earlier shift upto 1 week earlier. But the story in those flashback wasnt as interesting as the current ongoing plot which weakened the film a bit, add to it bad music and songs put in that weren't required at all. Leaving aside yeh jism jo, there was no requirement of songs.

Dialogues were good and bad at same time. Cinematography was good. Screenplay could had been better. Editing was nice, nothing noteworthy. Camera work was very good.

Performance wise,

Irfan impressed the most. Fardeen was fine, such roles suit him more than comic ones. Manoj Bajpayee looked in form. Aftab shivdasani was just about fine. Dino Morea was ok, bit irritating at times.Danny Denzangpa was good, he is getting good roles it seems now. Dia Mirza hardly has any role.

Gulshan Grover was flawless like always.

Overall, Acid Factory does excite you at lots of places, due to some good way of story telling, though it could had been more thrilling.

Film Review : Do Knot Disturb

Enjoyed the film after not so good starting 15-20 mins .. The film picks up the moment ritesh arrives.

Performance wise ritesh was the best, sohail also was good(he does well in cameos mostly then leads), govinda was in form and out of form in the film at many scenes simultaneously. Lara dutta was good, sushmita looked off colour.

Ranvir shorey was just about fine. Rajpal yadav as always irritating.

There were many laughable moments in the film, but there were lots of loud comedy also in the film.

Overall, its a nice one time watchable film. Doesnt impress you much but doesnt bore you either.

Film Rating - 2.75 Out of 5

Film Review : Dil Bole Hadippa

The film had something missing in it, probably the emotions didnt come out properly, the only reason due to which I couldnt really laugh as I should in the scenes, I couldnt get emotional as I should in the scenes or I couldnt get angry as I should in the scenes.

Even the climax speech didnt really impress me a bit.

But Rani's performance was again outstanding. I specially loved her transformation into the role of Veer Pratap left te right hand batsmen. Specially that scene, where Veer is telling the khaamiya present in Rohan(Shahid Kapur). That along with the date scene were probably the only 2 scenes that I completely loved in the film.

The finale was so so filmy and so much predictable. Its high time that cricket is used not in so funny way in the films that the directors end up now. They are just making fun of the game, expecting us to believe last wicket will score so many runs at such fast pace.

I loved Shahid Kapur playing as a batsmen, no wonder actors know to get into the cricket mode so easily, firstly Hurman and now Shahid. It looked so real to me, the shot from the backfoot to the offside for a six was simply awesome which he hits when Veer is unable to hit due to injury.

1st Half was nice, I loved Bhangra Bistar song, high on energy. Ofcourse, Tu hi hai rab was the best one of the all in the film.

2nd Half was not as good and went on the low side.

In terms of performances, Shahid Kapur was good but there were flaws in his acting visible at many places.

Rani was flawless and gave a superb performance though again in a film that wasnt good in terms of direction.

Anupam Kher and Poonam Dillion were good in their supporting roles, completely justified that their roles werent etched out which I feel wasnt even required.

Rakhi Sawant was fine. Sherlyn Chopra was a touch irritating, only added to the glamour quotient.

Overall, Dil Bole Hadippa could had been a better film, had the emotions of the main characters more visible. Somehow, I couldnt really feel it in majority of the scenes. The predictable scenes shouldnt have been predictable. Also, why every film starts with ek onkar theme only. Aneways, its just a one time watch film for me.

Film Review : Wanted

I loved the 1st half of the film with small hiccups otherwise completely entertaining but 2nd half was on the wrong side with 2 unwanted songs and some scenes falling flat.

Climax was good. The best thing of the film was the amazing screen presence of Salman Khan. He was fantastic for me, be it his style or attitude, or his dance steps.

Ayesha Takia was good, she looks so cute. That Gannibhai villain did really well . Mahesh Manjerakar was superb. Also, that fatty guy(forgot his name) did well in a small cameo. Namdev was as his usual stuff.Vinod Khanna was nice though his 1st dialogue made me feel someone else is dubbing for him.

Action scenes were excellent. Screenplay was good but could had been better. Some of the dialogues were very good, specially salman ones. Choreography was superb as expected from Prabhu Deva, with a small surprise in one song from him.

Songs were really bad for me. I hardly liked any song from the film. Only good thing was to see the steps of salman in each of those songs.

Overall, Wanted is a good timepass entertaining film for most parts of the film. Cut the film by about 15 mins in 2nd half and it would had been complete paisa wasool.

Film Review : Kaminey

Achi filme do tarah ki hoti hai
Ek jo achi hoti hai
aur ek jo bahut achi hoti hai ..

Kaminey comes into the latter category ..

The story of Kaminey is taken from a idea of Cajetan Boy and presented to us in a superb way, the mad world of kamineys where killing also takes place as a joke. Charlie(Shahid) and Guddu(Shahid) are poles apart from each other, one speaks f instead of s and other stammers. Sweety(Priyanka) is pregnant and tellls Guddu that she is sister of politician Bhope Bhau(Amol Gupte) and Guddu could be in trouble. Where as a Charlie has mistakenly stolen a Guitar which contains drugs worth 10 crore. Police and gang are after Charlie while Bhope Bhau is after Guddu, what will happen when lives of both brothers collide with each other, and how will they get out of this mess, is what Kaminey deals with.

Kaminey is one of those films that doesnt take 10-15 mins to settle in, it charges on you from the 1st dialogue of the film itself that introduces the film title "Kaminey".

The background score of the film keeps you on the edge of the seat, be it dhan te nan, some rd burman tracks or the finale track that isnt present in the audio album even.

There are so many characters in the film who keep you interested in their own different ways.

1st Half of the film is super paced while the 2nd Half slows down a touch and also keeps backtracking time and again to old scenes making references to the current scene.

Climax is good, though it could had been even better.

Shahid Gives a wonderful performance both as Charlie and Guddu, and the credit should go to Vishal Bharadwaj for extracting so much out of him. You couldnt even find a single scene where he faltered, atleast I couldnt.

Priyanka Chopra is continuing the good form she has built since Fashion, though at times she sounds like a cry baby in the film. She even has many scenes with Marathi language, hard to understand though what she says in it.

Amol Gupte was superb, couldnt imagine that it was his debut performance.

Micheal(dont knw his real name), but before the film itself, I was madly waiting to see his role along with Charlie. And he didnt dissappoint me.Bacha hai faala, Tope bhau bope bhau tope tope bhau . He is simply marvellous for me in each and every scene he has got in the film. Ae sharadmuni.

Lolo and Lebe, police inspectors are mean and yet comical. Ae gaana ga na koi

Tashi, the great, is superb too . Business is Business and Power is Power.

Its hard to leave out anyone from the film.

Its one of those films where the violence is mixed with black humour, people are getting killed and still you are going to laugh at those scenes as thats how much Kaminey the people are.

If there is anything that I didnt like much was the Picturisation of Kaminey title song, I feel it deserved something better, and specially the lines kabhi hum kaminey nikle kabhi doosre kaminey could had been used somewhere atleast, may be 2 ppl killing each other and putting the line in remix format in the background or some other way .

Also, as a audience one has to adjust with the world of Guddu and Sweety, because their scenes slow down the screenplay and the moment Charlie scenes come, you expect something to happen.

My favourite scenes from the film ..

All Dhan te nan background scenes,rd burman track backgrounds specially the one where Charlie is extremely happy for the chota fhortcut choosen by him.Michael scenes, spiderman i am spiderman. Dada scenes, kargil war ki heroine,ak47 ki chacheri behan. And many more .......

For me the full credit to everything that has come out of this film goes to only one man i.e Vishal Bharadwaj, firstly the way he has fetched out great performances from each artist present in the film and then the way he has executed the idea of Cajetan boy, wont have been a easy experience at all, even Vishal told in a interview, he wont ever make Kaminey type film again.

One thing is sure though, that Kaminey demands attention, the twists comes suddenly and if you miss a scene, you could miss something. Also, you need to bear some bengali, marathi and angola(though its subtitles comes written). Bengali is still easy to get, I atleast got a bit of it. Marathi was tough.

There is still so much to write, but then I would end up giving out the film away totally.

Overall, Kaminey is a film that you shouldnt miss at all, only and only if you are a Cinema lover...

Too Much Love for a Celebrity!

I have seen some people madly worship their favourite celebrities. Sometimes its irritating to see such stuff. I mean a person keeps speaking about only one person, always giving importance only to one person as if only one celebrity exists in the world.

For eg : If a person loves Shaan, whenever a new album will release, the person will be like 2 shaan songs, and if no shaan songs then why no shaan songs. I mean if your fav singer isnt among the album singers that shouldnt mean that the album is not worth a listen. Hard to understand such behaviour. Take the instance of Shahrukh Khan, some friends love them to such large extent that they arent willing to see other actor films at all.

When I ask them, why didn't you see this and this film, their reply comes why waste time on them, hum toh seedha shahrukh ki hi films dekhenge. I wonder what should I call them, Srk freaks or Bollywood Freaks. Even if they are srk freaks, they are in a way going to see srk film which means they are going to see shahrukh's acting in the film. If they can appreciate his acting skills then why not try to appreciate other actors and their films too, ofcourse only good ones. Just to get a glimpse of srk, you go to see the film is childish.

Even I so many times watch film because of my fav but my reasons are different, I go there expecting those favs to deliver in terms of their work not to see a glimpse of their looks and all, for that google is always there.

There are certain occasions when this extra or baised love makes me dislike that celebrity for a certain time which shouldnt happen.

I always believe you should never show off too much for a celebrity and same way not show off too much hatredness for a celebrity. Show it in a way that others appreciate it instead of making others get irritated. ;)

I dont know if all this happens with anyone else or not, but it certainly happens with me time and again. And I am yet to find a way to get out of all this as daily I get to see all this happening in some way or other.

Hasta la Vista!
